Utah is still alive in the Women's tourny, but face a much better Maryland team tonight. I know that nobody cares about the womens game (myself included) the lackluster mens tourny for whites has me turn to te Utah womens team for a glimmer of white NCAA basketball hope...

hey, i can enjoy a good women's game. in fact, i was an avid fan of the Lady Razorbacks when i was at the University of Arkansas. it's not the same type of game as the men play, but good ballplayers are good ballplayers. and watching the ladies is a usually lot like watching good high school boys basketball.

and unlike the guys, they seem to really appreciate the fans support.

Stanford aslo lost in a close game to LSU. Stanford is a majority white team and LSU is completely black. They were down 1 with four seconds and hit a three that was wiped off because of a charge. Every time I look at the foul numbers in a typical caste match-up like this one the foul shooting always favors the darker team - men and womens's game. LSU shot 15 FT while Stanford only shot five the whole game! A ton of WSFs (White statue fouls) were called. Just a typical stat for a caste sytem match-up in todays basketball. Pretty hard to overcome those numbers in a competetive game.

That's where the minority style of one on one play creates more drives to the bucket and more fouls. That doesn't always explain the disparity in free throws but it does explain some. Jump shooting white dominated teams usually don't go alot to the free throw line. that's why I like Morrison's game, he drives to the bucket alot and draws fouls. Nowitzki does the same thing. Don't get me wrong, there is way too much of a disparity in these games in regards to free throws but I think what I posted above is a partial explanation for it.

That's an explanation I've thought of before but in the end it just doesn't hold up. Your saying that if white players would simply become more agressive and take it to the hoop then the problem would be solved. If the answer was that easy then more white players would be taken it to da hoop. The reason they don't of course is because they often do not get the benefit of the classic "bail out" foul call. Also on your point about jump shooters. Great shooters like JJ Redick have to guarded more closely and aggressively least they get an inch of daylight to shot the ball. You would think this would lead to more fouls being called but it doesn't. BTW, Morrison shot all of 4 free throws against UCLA. Seven players that night shot more free throws than Morrison!

The officiating also affects whites on the defensive side of the ball. The WSF (white statue foul) is so common place now that its become a part of the game. How many black players do you see standing with feet planted on the ground and arms motionless held straight up in the air? I don't see many - just whites and still they will get called for a foul. And when they do get whistled they just line-up at the free throw line and accept it. Resistance has become futile. Why do whites play such a passive defense? The only thing that makes any sense is because they have to otherwise they would foul out of the game much earlier. Such a large part of basketball is decided by the who is shooting free throws - (about 1/3 of points scored). It's a fact that is impossible to ignore. All in all it is this big disadvantage in how the game is officiated that is keeping white teams from excelling in the post-season. The post season more than any other time seems to be when the caste system officiating is at its worst. Edited by: Kaptain Poop
