I just wanted to vent my frustration regarding what a friend told me occurred to him in high school a few weeks ago. Apparently they were watching 'wedding videos' as an illustration for what they could do with computers and movie editing. During one video, a white man made a dance move. The instructor remarked 'you can tell hes white... cause he can't dance'. He then paused the video, rewinded it, and showed it again.

No one said anything, but I guess no one really laughed either. I think he said the class was entirely white btw.

This is the problem with our society and the self degradation of whites. I wish someone would have told him to go watch 'Dirty Dancing' (the original) or even the recent reality show 'You think you can dance' which featured white males as well.Edited by: Sark6354201

Negative stereotypes are only permitted when they are attached to white males. Yes, whites can't generally dance the way we've become accustomed to watching people dance. In other words, they can't dance like black people, who have incorporated their own way of moving to music into the mainstream to such an extent that there is no other acceptable way of dancing. This is similar to the way the contestants on "American Idol" are forced to sing "black" in order to have a chance to win.
