Brewster was going to rule the division. After all, he made a name for himself by "destroying" tall, white Heavyweights from Europe. Man, the press could just eat it up. Who was actually picking "that white guy" to win. They can't fight after all.

...And New WBO Heavyweight Champion!

Of course we all know what happened, and is it really any surprise that the media quickly switched focus from the Heavyweight scene to the up-coming "Superfight" between Mayweather and Judah? The media couldn't stand the fact that the wrong guy won. They tell jokes about white fighters, but they just don't seem to have the same effect they used to.

From 140 (Super Lightweight) to Heavyweight, the racial breakdown of the title holders are: 14 White, 7 Black, and 6 Hispanic.

Wait a minute? All four Super Middleweight champions are white? All four Light Heavyweight champs are white? Two (and soon to be all four) of the Heavyweight champions are white?

Well, to the casual boxing fan, or the uninformed, these facts are unknown. To him, Toney is really the best heavyweight, and nobody at 175 can beat Antonio Tarver.

Don't worry, when the media clams up, and has to hype a Zab Judah fight, that's when you know that another white fighters done well.

Actually the supermiddle light heavyweight division has been white dominated since the late 90's. The casual fan doesn't follow these divisions much so they wouldn't know that. Now for the forseeable future the heavyweight division will be dominated by the ex Soviet bloc athletes, the racial stereotyping may end. Or maybe a new one will evolve the Eastern European/Asian fighting machine..........

Wow! I never would have known this without you pointing it out, Sean, and I am a fan of boxing and combat sports in general.

There are twice as many white champions in BOXING as there are blacks and Hispanics COMBINED!! Heehee hahah!! Considering that there are more black and Hispanic boxers total than whites in boxing, its even more telling that the majority of belt holders in those divisions are white.

Awesome! Thanks for the research on this.
