I'm the biggest fan of Kovalev, but after learning much about the Klitschko brothers, especially regarding their selfish Ukrainian positions, they have completely fallen out of favour with me.

Same with me. Kovalev is my favorite fighter now.
I still root for Wladimir Klitschko against the negro boxers but I'll root against him if he fights Vyacheslav Glazkov.

I'm think so will be very, um, big fight Saturday night. The Cedric Agnew at least be enough brave for to be challenger. Like so many stupos they scare to fight for Sergei. Very weak peoples I'm think. Too many peoples talk but never accept for to fight. Sometimes even lotsa money they offer.
Looks like Stevenson wants no part of Sergey now or in the future. He just signed with Showtime, head by Golden Boy. Kovalev is not one of GB fighters, hence they will most likely never fight, except verbally. Interestingly, HBO which had the option to re-sign Stevenson refused. If they continue to win, both should demand that their promoter make the fight. Not holding my breath.
If you visit the boxing websites you'll read of posters that prattle-on for days on end about how this fighter can't fight that fighter because of promoter or television conflicts. It has been going on for decades. All of this is nonsense. When there is a will to engage between the parties the way will always clear. Fighters and promoters alike use their contracts as imaginary shields to keep from an unwanted challenge. Stevenson simply does not believe he can beat Kovalev. I don't think he can either.

Stevenson has been ko'd by a cannon fodder ESPN level opponent. In the shared card with Kovalev, Bellow rattled him too. His chin is shaky and he isn't as good a boxer as Kovalev and he isn't as long either. That fight won't be made unless the money is too good to pass up. It could happen down the line ie in 2 years if both are still in the division and they have cleaned it out. Ps in the past this division hasn't had too many super fights because a great light heavyweight always ran to the heavyweight division. Now that the jump isn't reasonable guys like Kovalev will probably try and create a legacy in the division.

Stevenson is a guy with decent skills and power. He basically overpowers his opponents. This is what worries me about the Fonfara fight. Fonfara had trouble with Derrick Findley who was a shorter guy with a stocky build like Stevenson. Fonfara will have to use his 5 inch reach advantage and height advantage. If he tries to brawl inside with the African beast he will get knocked out.
Fonfara will have to time Steveson. Which means, taxing his body with body shots and staying away from his power. Come round 8th start timing him with power shots. Its no secret, yes, Stevenson is dangerous when fresh, but another ESPN Friday fighter on the lower end with power taxed him in the later rds. Not rocket science.

I felt the head but was accidental but the low blows certainly weren't. I was a bit worried about the cut, that type of cut can severely hamper a fighters vision. Agnew did very little in the fight however, and was just in defensive mode the entire time occasionally throwing a punch of his own.

Yeah Sharky, Sergei may as well have been fighting Ward out there with all the low blows and head butts. We know how Sergei's future opponents will be trying to "win". But Sergei acted like Marciano out there and pounded through his arms. Cedric took a very bad beating. He'll be going to the hospital in a few minutes.

Phenomenal performance from Sergey. Sergey's punching power is unreal, he is definitely the hardest puncher in the sport P4P (yes even harder than GGG or Wlad). He can literally put your lights out with a single shot. Cedric Agnew fought an ultra defensive fight, because that was the only chance he had. He absorbed a lot of punishment and was bleeding heavily from mouth and face was badly swollen. It's good the fight ended by KO because Agnew was taking a beating and it was turning into the type of fight where he could get hurt.

Credit to Agnew for fighting with a lot of heart, he can comeback and honestly I could see him competing for a title at the weight against someone like Cloud, Shumenov, or even Hopkins. Credit to Sergey on yet another awesome performance, he is the most feared puncher in boxing. Tonight Sergey showed he can deal with a quick, defensive style and is clearly the best light heavy in the world.
Will never happen. Hopkins hoping for 1 more big $ job vs Stevenson and call it quits.

Now that Stevenson and Hopkins are not interested in fighting Kovalev, many are wondering what does he do now? I have been saying to them, and Kathy, just keep putting out offers up and down the ranks, someone else will come forward for the money; Sergei just has to keep winning and eventually the big paydays will come. No worries. He's already a star.

Btw, did anyone else notice Kovalev's wife seems to be Central or East Asian? She looks to be either full Asian or perhaps a Eurasian mix. Very cool. As a White male, all of my girlfriends are Middleeastern (West Asian) as well!
