Sergey Kovalev was absolutely *spectacular* tonight. A+ performance. Tonight, Kovalev knocked out a guy that essentially beat 175 lb. Champions Beibut Shumenov and Tavoris Cloud. Based on that, I'd say that in my opinion, the best fighter at 175 lbs is Sergey Kovalev.

I'll be honest, I did expect him to KO Campillo, but I was thinking a much closer fight and far later in the fight (say, rounds 8 or 9). I'll also be honest and say I thought there was a small chance Campillo would outbox and win against Kovalev. Kovalev really dominated this fight and just beat the sh1t out of Campillo. One of the more one sided fights in recent memory.

Kovalev was spectacular tonight. I'd say he's the top guy at 175 pounds. He might not have the names on his record to prove that, but Campillo is a good start and I'd honestly pick him to knock out any of the 175 lb. Champions Shumenov, Cloud, or Cleverly. I'd say Kovalev Knocks *Them all* out.

Top quality fighter, this Kovalev guy is something special.

He just destroyed a guy who beat basically 2 of the titleholders and was viciously robbed. I`d honestly say Sergey KO`s all the titleholders at 175 pretty easily.

`Impressive` does not even begin to describe his performance tonight. Kovalev is on fire and one of Europe`s finest in the pro ranks. Guy was spectacular tonight. A+

This guy is incredible. I think the blacks will try to avoid him just like with Dariusz Michalczewski. He's too fast and too strong and I think he takes anyone out at 175.

Rafael's remarks: What a tremendous statement victory for Russia's Kovalev, 29, a new face on the scene who might go all the way to a title. He's a rough, powerful guy who simply destroyed the cagey Campillo. Kovalev had looked good in his recent fights, but he had not faced any legitimate opponents. Nobody can say that anymore after he not only faced Campillo, a former world titleholder, but blew him away in very impressive fashion.

With the win, which came in the main event of NBC Sports Net's "Fight Night," Kovalev pounded his way into title contention at 175 pounds. Kovalev and Campillo, 34, of Spain, were supposed to fight in September, but a bad back forced Campillo, a southpaw, to drop out.

The fight was eventually rescheduled, which Campillo might now regret. He was never in the fight. Kovalev came out firing and never let up. He hurt Campillo in the first round, continued to apply pressure in a dominant second round and then knocked him down three times in the third round for the victory. All three knockdowns came on right hands, stunning Campillo each time. Finally, when he went down to the seat of his pants on the third knockdown, referee Michael Ortega waived off the fight at 1 minute, 30 seconds.

The CompuBox statistics were overwhelming in favor of Kovalev, who landed 77 of 227 blows (34 percent) while Campillo connected on just 13 of 59 (22 percent). Campillo has never been crushed like this. In fact, in his last fight 11 months ago, he lost a split decision to titleholder Tavoris Cloud in a fight that many believe Campillo deserved to win. Kovalev may have looked too good in this fight and could have a lot of trouble enticing a top opponent to face him.

Yeah, I was just about to post BSPN's great boxing article, headed by Dan Rafael which is hyping and explaining Kovalev crashing the 175 lbs ranks. Rafael is by far the most fair and great writer in boxing today. To me he is the go to guy when I anticapate big fights or assessment of the great White talent that continues to ambush the CM's affeletic fighters.

I'm not going to waste a lot of time analyzing this fight. Kovalev will get a knockout in the 3 to 5th round. The knockout will come off his boxing as he doesn't "load up" on one punch.

Another fight that is taking place tonight is Bellew vs Stevenson. This is another fight that is really easy to predict. Everything is favouring Stevenson (black) in this one. The only way Bellew (white Brit) could possibly win is by KO or by throwing and connecting like he's Joe Calzaghe. Bellew is no Calzaghe, and all Stevenson has to do is make it to the end of the fight without getting knocked out and he'll get the win. Its that easy. Even if Bellew were to knock Stevenson down 2-3 times in different rounds Bellew will not win. This is business first, sport second, and there is money to be made by the promoters if Stevenson wins. The promoters make nothing in the future with Bellew winning. I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt I'm wrong. Stevenson UD 12.

Just saw the end of Stevens fight. Yeah, he has great power. But get him in there with a thinking fighter with the same power, and it will be lights out for him. His opponent had a good game plan, take him into the later rounds by boxing. But decided to trade a bit too early and got caught. Afterwards, who does Stevens call out? A worn out Froch and a ancient Bopkins.

After that, Kellerman, saw the truth, Stevens wants a fight against a worn out fighter which both Froch and Bopkins are.

Stevens is like Geno Smiff, some athletic talent but a retard in the brain. Its just a matter of time before Stevens is out cold on his back by the hands of smart thinking fighter with power. Hell, I think Bopkins could win a decision against this retard from Haiti.

Yeah either that or he and his backing is just marinading an eventual show down with Kovalev. If they kept winning the fight it will eventual happen. The winner will be Kovalev based on boxing skills, power and most important, ring IQ. How could a primate like Stevens compete. No brainer, Sergey will be standing over the Canadian DWF hero on his back or brains scrambled in the corner of the ring and be counted out.

Kovalev's culling of the light heavyweight division is clearing up. He now has Stevenson left to crush and all of it will be his. And KOvalev will kill Stevenson who is tailor made for him to beat. Hopkins will not fight Kovalev anyway so there is no need to discuss that fight anyway. The true championship fight will come down the road between Beterbiev and Kovalev.
