Sergey Kovalev (16-0, 14 KO, age 28) is a very good up-and-coming light heavyweight.

    From fightnews.com:

Sergey Kovalev snared the NABA light heavyweight championship from Douglas Otieno, earning a second round knockout over the Kenyan. A couple of big uppercuts hurt Otieno in the final frame. The official time of the stoppage was 2:39.

"an accidental headbutt ended action at 1:31 of the second round of a cruiserweight contest between Sergey Kovalev (15-0-1) and Grocer Young..."

"Kovalev and Young fought to a second round technical draw at The Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, CA, when Young claimed he was unable to continue due to what was ruled as an accidental blow behind his ear."

Looks like the bull**** story is evolving. Tomorrow they'll probably be saying that Kovolev hit the Negro with a folding chair.

"As Grover Young dropped to the canvas from a left hook to the head, light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev thought that he had just racked up another victory. Instead of scoring his fifth consecutive knockout in a span of about five and a half months, Kovalev walked out of the ring in disgust that an unwarranted draw is on his record"

I never even heard such bull**** before! They're not even claiming that he was deliberately hitting him behind the head or something. These boxing bandits are so incompetent and so obvious and they don't even give a **** if you know it.

But here it's supposed to be a head butt - and how do you manage to get carried out of the ring on a stretcher from an accidental head butt, especially if you're a negro with a skull that's three inches thick solid bone?

The main event fight between undefeated cruiserweight prospect Sergey Kovalev (15-0-1) and Grocer Young (5-4-1) ended after an accidental headbutt at 1:31 of the second round. After the headbutt, Young dropped to the canvas and was carried out on a stretcher. The bout took place at the Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, Beverly Hills, California. The fight was pronounced as a technical draw.

Sergei Kovalev. His name sounds too much like Sergei Kobozev, the Russian cruiserweight (who also defeated John Ruiz at heavyweight) who was murdered by Tommy Atlas' friends in the Judeo-Rissian Mafiya in Brooklyn, NY in 1995.

Tommy Atlas murdered their grandmother, and years later murdered a man in his sleep in prison.

Kovalev won tonight by KO 2. It turned out to not be one of the televised fights on the NBC card, but they did show highlights. Here's a video:

    And the report from fightnews.com:

Good result, because Boone has gone the distance with many contenders. He knocked Andre Ward down and had him hurt in their fight a few years ago.

Yes, I watched the fight and thought Kovalev looked superb (particularly considering that Thompson was a national golden gloves champion, and with a record of 12-1, his lone loss a split decision) :)

Lethal right hand and left hook, dropped Thompson three times, all from right hands, the KO coming from a huge right then hook. Kovalev is precise, deadly power, and good speed.

Id love to see Sergey fight Nathan Cleverly, Beibut Shumenov, or even Tavoris Cloud somewhere down the line. He's certainly a live opponent against any of those guys... (Not saying he'd beat them, but he packs a great punch and has some serious skills, that would make for a good chance against all 3).

I think a good opponent for his next fight would be Tommy Karpency, Karo Murat, or Gabe Campillo. Perhaps even that Polish guy (forget his name) who recently beat Glen Johnson.

In any case, I am quite impressed with Sergey thus far! Great KO win tonight.

Kovalev is 30 so no need to wait any longer. 175 is not that deep anyway. Give him Cloud IMO.

I would hate for him to fight his fellow white prospect from Poland (the guy that just beat Glen Johnson).

Kovalev is the #1 guy at 175. Easily.

Give him the winner of the Battle of the Black Hypes: Hopkins v. Cloud.

Kovalev is clearly one of the best at 175.

I'm hoping he'll receive a title shot next, he deserves it.

Anyone else notice the Jewish commentator Chris Mannix come in with excuses for Campillo when Kovalev started dominating in round one? They always do that to attempt to diminish a good performance by a white boxer.

It was very obvious that announcer wanted Kovalev to lose. I hate when announcers do that. Freddie Roach at least got it right!
