If McGuffie has a problem with "reoccurring" concussions as a college freshman RB then he should think about a switch to a Sports Management program and hang up the cleats. He's not going to carry the rock in the NFL if on every hit there is a chance he will be brain damaged. The "Damaged goods" tag will end the career of a white player quicker then anything.

We definitely don't want Sam to have permanent brain effects, so you're definitely right that he should be cautious. I have not seen the team trainer reports, and those are confidential but, as other college athletes here know, all student-athletes get a physical exam every year with a sports-medicine doctor. If it's determined that there's a potential for serious injury, they will deem them unfit to compete.

If they were receiving a athletic scholarship, the school will honor it for the number of years left they would have been eligible, keep the proper GPA, etc. I had a couple teammates that this happened to. It wasn't that they physically couldn't perform, but they found conditions that potentially could have gone wrong during competition or practice. It's a liability thing, so if they doctor says Sam can compete at A&M then I will be confident that all the bases were covered.

Here's the post I was referring to on McGuffie in another thread about how some Michigan players booed a guy wearing a McGuffie jersey in a restaurant. It appears many of his teammates weren't very welcoming of him. The poster's grammar isn't very good though, but read below; the main point is comprehensible.

wow is that jtress posing as Sam McGuffie...that is pathetic.People do trash McGuffie in A2, including his teamates.I was at Bennies resturant the morning following the Illinois game and their was a bout a dozen players in there when aguy in a numbr 2 jersey walked in.Two of the guys booed the man and gave him heck for wearin a McGuffie jersey and were trash talking about Sam. I wasn't sure who one of them was because he had his back facing m and the other guy was just a no one.Avery horn was there also and he didn't seem to disagree with them nor did anyone else. And the only football players that take easy classes are NFL bound guys. as for Butler he is a NFL calibur TE.He will have to work really hard on his blocking skills but receiving wise he is very athletic and talented for a TE.

very dissapointing news.

As a fan of the Big Ten I am sad to see him leave, but I hope he takes it easy and the coaches realizes his situation wherever he goes. I think the 12-18 carries that Tough mentioned would be ideal for his first year back.

On a side note about Texas, what is their deal? They seem to pass on every outstanding white athlete that is available. I know that Rex Burkhead, for example, had offers from practically everyone except the longhorns. They kinda shrugged and said "if you pick us, we'll offer you", but they made it clear that he wouldn't be a RB, while all the other schools were looking at him as a RB. Just wierd.

I don't know, they got a safety (started as a freshman) from the south Texas area who was a great white player in highschool. He's the one that dropped the interception against Tech that would have given the 'Horns the win. They also got another white player at safety who is the son of Tim Brewster, coach of the Golden Gophers of Minnesota. I don't really see Texas as a place where white players can't get a chance.

Manifest Destiny I cant believe Blake Gideion name is getting thrown out there as the one who f****d up the game for the horns! How bout that scrawny Black cornerback that does not know how to use his body to tackle Mike Crabtree???!!Edited by: celticdb15

Yeah, just being there to break up the pass was a good play. As a DB I hate how people point out a dropped INT as a bad play, it's like a batted down pass with 2 hands lol.

Manifest Destiny, DBs are taught to bat passes down, not to go for an INT everytime. If you knew anything at all about football, you wouldn't make such asinine comments. The player who lost the game for Texas was there no tackling black DB.

Note* i hope Nolan Brewster does get a chance at playing some for Texas, though i doubt it. Gideion and the black safety are both freshman( i think)

I have stick up for Manifest Destiny. Blake Gideon dropped a sure handed interception. Did he not?? No matter what the player's color is in that situation there will be criticizing from the media. Now you can claim that SI purposefully singled out Blake and said nothing about how the corner missed Crabtree. That would be a fairer statement to make and what sounds like you're trying to say to Manifest. Yes though Gideon dropped a sure INT but the Texas' CB didn't help matters. Period.

Pretty potent offense, and not very deep at RB. Looks like a good fit.Edited by: Osgood Fan

Unless there is some sort of agreement, yes he does have to sit out a year, but since he has a redshirt year available he should be able to practice with the team.

Rice's top running backs (outside of Clement and Casey) are both redshirt juniors. That means McGuffie - provided he does well in the spring - has a very good chance to be the top guy in 2010.

So after the 2010 mcguffie could make the jump to the nfl. That will be interesting to see what he does. We all know he is a confident kid, maybe even wienery. If he puts up huge numbers i would not doubt he would jump to the nfl.

I think Rice could be a great place for Sam. It is nice to know that there will be white RBs out there for us to watch over the next few years. They are so few and far between, its good to know when one will be around.

I recently made a video of Sam Mcguffie. I am practicing making highlights of White players, mainly those going pro but i started with a true freshman and im not sure if i should buy the program. The watermark on the video only last for a little while mainly before most of the highlight starts playing game footage. I know most of you probably wont like the music and people keep commenting on how it sucks, as if i didnt see the 8 other posts saying the music sucks. I just combined some random music i had on my hard drive to make the video quickly and now i cant go back and change it because the computer i made it on crashed. At least the music isnt rap crap that most people add to the videos. So if you dont like grindcore please turn it down, but i would like some feedback from people that want to watch Sam Mcguffie's highlights from his year at Michigan. Thanks

As for music for future vids, you can't go wrong with AC/DC.

Nice video i don't think the music fits his running style though. Haha Tyler Roehl or a power back it would fit the video to a T. Im looking forward to seeing your other videos though! One song i love is headstrong by Trapt
