Finnish heavyweight Robert Helenius (10-0, 6 KOs) followed Kubrat Pulev by making his step up as well. Helenius took on Ukrainian stylist Taras Bidenko (26-4, 12 KOs) and stopped him in three bloody rounds. The Finnish fighter controlled the action from the outside with his hard jab. He also used a left hook to cut the Ukrainian's face badly in different spots though Bidenko was never been seriously rocked throughout the fought rounds. However, the bout was stopped between the third and the fourth rounds as Bidenko, who was destroyed by Denis Boytsov in his last fight, was bleeding too much to be allowed to continue.

This is one to look forward to!

I'm hoping Helenius will become the second man to ever stop the durable Brewster.

This will be a very hard fight for Helenius. If he can pull this one out he is a legit heavyweight. His performance against Bidenko was also very impressive.

In an exciting fight, unbeaten heavyweight Robert Helenius (11-0, 7 KOs) impressively stepped up in class with an eight round thrashing of former WBO world champion Lamon Brewster (35-6, 30 KOs). The 6"²6½ Helinius dropped Brewster in round two with a body shot and slowly broke him down as the bout progressed. The bout ended in round eight with Brewster taking heavy punishment. Time was 2:31.

The earlier Romanian TV stream worked for Pulev, Murat and Gerber fights, but did not show the two main events. I couldn't find a stream for the ARD telecast.

However, the reports on the boxing websites indicate that Helenius looked good and won every round.

Great weekend for our fighters in caste matches with Brinkley beating Stephens, Helenius beating Brewster and Pulev beating Skelton!

Wifey saw her man get SMACKED DOWN... If I were in a combat sport, I would leave my womanfolk at home. If I crush my opponent, I can show her the video. But, if I happened to embarass myself, there would be no need for her to see it.

Man, some of those punches looked like grenades going off!

Brewster has taken a tumble downwards since losing his championship belt. He is still a very good fighter and Helenius should now be considered a major contender at heavyweight.

Just watched the replay of Robert's fight against Lamon. It was a good win against a top, albeit fading contender. Robert fights tall and has a good jab like Vitali. Two rounds is not enough for me to give a complete critique but I liked what I saw. I think, however, he is carrying about 15/20 lbs of flab that he needs to get ride of.

Brewster has always been a good fighter and great sportsman. He was always gracious in defeat and victory. I hope he retires and wish him the best in his life after boxing.

From what I saw on you tube he didn't look that good to me. The better heavy's would crush him. Still it's good to see even marginal white talent at heavy and for sure he will get better.

Helenius is a decent prospect at heavyweight. He's tall, he knows how to use his height, and he has a good power in both hands.

The thing I didn't like about him in the Brewster fight was that he looked a bit tentative. Plus he's a bit too straight in and out, doesn't really make great use of his feet.

Scores were 79-76, 78-77 and 77-75. The decision verdict breaks a string of six consecutive KO victories for Helinius, including an impressive eighth-round stoppage of former WBO heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster.

Helenius said he may have broken his hand in the 5th round.

Another win for the "Nordic Nightmare"!

Helenius returns August 21 to face unbeaten Frenchman Gregory Tony 12-0(10). Helenius is recovering from a hand injury suffered in his last fight.

It will likely be a competitive fight. Gregory Tony is a former kickboxing champion snd is undefeated as a professional boxer.
