Did anyone else catch the Rice vs. Southern Miss. game last night? DB Andrew Sandejo was playing I think the the free safety postion. He had a pretty steller game, some good tackles, two picks returned for 31 yards total, and had a nice pass breakup where he showed some major hops (it was originally called a catch, but was overturned after review). Also he does have a hispanic sounding last name, but you can tell he is white. Any other thoughts on this guy? This is from the Rice Owls website:

I saw the game last night and he did have a heck of a game. Andrew is a great young player that I have followed since high school (I think I started a thread about him in the high school forum a couple of years ago). He has all of the skills to be a big time safety.

One thing about Spanish surnames that you have to keep in mind is that in states like Texas, there are many Mexican/Spanish immigrants that have been here for many generations, since the days of the Spanish and Mexican colonies (they were called Texicans during the Texas Revolution). Unlike recent Mexican immigrants, they integrated with the American, German, French, and Bohemian colonists in the 1800's. Other than their surname, there is really nothing that distinguishes them from any other white ethnic group.

i would say not even their surname, since obviously Spanish people are white.

he's got good speed, good size and i'd like to think a bright future ahead of him!
