I already posted that article Don. It's very well written and no big deal to repost it. Rex Burkhead needs all of the publicity that he can get. He is just an exceptional athlete and and very quiet, humble superstar. Sometimes a little too quiet. It's great to see him admit that he has some serious hops! The kid can do it all. I remember quite a few so called experts in the media saying that he would never be able to produce in the Big Ten like he did in the Big Twelve. Boy did he shut them up.

Here is to a monster season by Trex and to him winning the Heisman Trophy. It could not go to a more deserving player!

"because he seldom hits the homerun"

laughable excuse because Lattimore has 2 runs 40 yards or more on 412 career attempts, one coming against Troy, yet that doesn't stop him from being considered one of the top backs, and before his injury he was considered the top back in the country. Despite this, and the fact that he is coming off of a acl/mcl injury, he is still listed ahead of Burkhead by many. Pretty much every game Lattimore played in he was the starter allowing to get into a rhythm which allows for big plays as you get into a groove. Rex has only one season as a starter, oh yeah and he averaged "only 4.8 ypc" (also criticized by many) which happens to be the SAME ypc Lattimore averaged in 2010 when he played the entire season.

Another thing that is overlooked is the hype Lattimore received for his big games, 182 yards, and 200+ for two others. Gerhart was criticized for having a bunch of carries to have his, 178, and 3 200+ yard games. One of those games he had 38 attempts, the rest were under 30, with the highest being 29. Lattimore however, had at least 37 rushes for all of those, with one 200 yard game having 40 rushes. Yet this is never mentioned for him.

Thanks for that video dwid!! I'm also a huge Burkhead fan. All the Nebraska fans love Burkhead. They all know Rex is their consensus best offensive player by far. They all love him too! I know Bo really likes him too, like has been posted on here as well.

Here's another video.. it is rap, but it's about Rex!! I think this proves that Nebraska loves this guy!

It seems pre-season steam is building for Mr. Burkhead! Hopefully Nebraska will get behind Rex and keep the momentum going toward a Heisman Trophy run for Rex Burkhead.

To say it would be a monumental breakthrough for the white running back would be, well, an understatement! I would love to see it happen and get some redemption for Gerhart.

Yesterday I sent James Edwards an email telling him a little about Rex Burkhead and lobbying for him to get Don back on The Political Cesspool within the next month.

NFP draft follower projects Rex Burkhead as a potential undrafted free agent in his Weekly Risers & Fallers List.

    DD.Comment
: No doubt injuries could adversely affect Burkhead's draft
stock. But in fairness to Rex, we'd like to point out he's averaged an impressive 8.6 yards per carry this fall. That's hardly limited production, when he's been healthy enough to suit up. And he's done that while playing injured from day one.

Hopefully we will see Rex return this Saturday for Senior Day. It will be his last home game ever at Nebraska so I expect he will play at least briefly if not more. Here is a good article on what he has been going through. I would love to see this kid get a chance to be a starter playing on Sundays next fall. He is a beast. A true warrior with more than enough speed to break the big ones and the vision to be an every down back.

25 yards short of 700 with less than 100 carries 6.9 ypc, 739 yards from scrimmage 7 tds. He had a ton of 20+ yard runs this season which was the negative on him before this season.

He ends his career 5th on Nebraska's all time rushing list, with only one full season as the featured back.

AMAZING!!! I knew Rex was very solid, but to see it put like that really makes it hit home just how great he is. 7 yards per carry is phenomenal! I really do believe that he is the most pro ready RB.

Luckily, none of the scouting sites are calling him a fullback. He still has plenty of hurdles to overcome. Watch the Seahawks draft him and then he sits behind Lynch.

Georgia vs. Nebraska: How Rex Burkhead's Performance Impacts NFL Draft Stock

"The 5'11'', 210-pound senior showed shiftiness and strength against a 'Dawgs defense that allows just 18.8 points per game and features a plethora of future NFL players, including Jarvis Jones.

Not only did Burkhead methodically gash a great defense, but he also proved once again that he can take over a game when needed.

Now I am looking at these Pro Day results from Walterfootball and thinking WTF! Burkhead supposedly ran a 4.5 according to other sources and now I see this.

They've marginalized Burkhead to being an undrafted free agent or else an extremely low throw away pick that will disgust the DWF's regardless. But let's take off the rose colored glasses. Burkhead could have won the Doak Walker award and put up good numbers at the combine and still would have been drafted by a team as a career backup/fullback. They did exactly that to Toby Gerhart.

Burkheads only chance to get some decent playing time was the only route left to a White RB in the NFL. Catch on with the right team. Have a good camp and pre-season, hopefully have a guy on the coaching staff that likes him. Hang on to a roster spot by a thread and then hope that the black backs ahead of him get injured/arrested at their usual clip.

Get a shot to play and excel before the team can scrape up some scrub off the waiver wire or parolee list. It's the Hillis formula for success (and to a lesser extent-Woodhead) and it's all that's left in the pro-black Negro Football League for the White guys.

To look for a silver lining, perhaps this will enable Burkead to go to a team with a former coach or some other connection to him or at least a better situation then the draft has provided to White RB's. Rex might be somewhat savvy in knowing where to go, he ended up at Nebraska, just about the only place other then BYU he would have had a chance to start so maybe he has a knack for picking the right place.

Realistically, I hope he got his degree in a good field before he left Nebraska.

I'm hoping Burkhead still ends up as a 3rd/4th round pick.

On another site people were talking up quotaback Matt Scott and saying he ran a "fast" 4.7 40 since he had such a good 3-cone drill and the 40 yard dash time was not indicative of his speed. The DWFs are amazing in their unabashed negrophilia.

Yet Burkhead who was top 5 in 5 of the 7 events is getting the white player treatment. This whole draft "process" gets worse and worse every year with more and more people just drinking the kool-aid rather than thinking for themselves.

Draftdaddy shared this. Props to Mark Knudson for not being afraid of pointing out facts!!
Examiner.com: Is white running back stigma unfairly hurting Nebraska's Rex Burkhead?

We all know there is a stigma attached to white running backs. They aren’t fast enough to be successful in the NFL, so goes the prevailing thought.

    Rex Burkhead
didn’t do much to dispel that notion at the NFL combine, where he ran a pedestrian 4.73 in the 40-yard dash. He improved on that, running a 4.55 at Nebraska’s pro day, which is plenty fast for an NFL running back. Better than Stefan Taylor from Stanford and a handful of others, but not good enough, I guess. That’s really the only stat that gets any attention or publicity from the meat market/combine, as we all know. Therefore the self-proclaimed draft gurus have Burkhead rated very low as a potential NFL draft pick.

Sure, you hear about guys with underwhelming scores on the Wonderlic test, or when someone does something freaky good like bench pressing 225 pounds 40 times, stuff like that. Otherwise, the rest of the stats go pretty much unnoticed and the gurus who then decide who’s a good draft pick based on this sliver of information.

As Husker fans, we have some news for Mr.’s McShay, Kiper, Mayock, etc. Rex Burkhead can play in the NFL. Not just play, but excel. Some NFL team is going to get a late round steal come the end of April. As a Broncos fan, I dream of seeing Burkhead in the same backfield as Peyton Manning. Whew!

Analysts get so caught up in combine numbers that they forget there’s a whole bunch of video of these guys actually PLAYING FOOTBALL. Watch Rex Burkhead play football, and you will see for yourself. We watch it. Hopefully they do, too.

Burkhead’s senior year wasn’t what anyone wanted it to be, but even playing hurt, he did save his best performances for the likes of Ohio State and Georgia, and averaged almost seven yards per carry. Ask the Buckeyes if Rex Burkhead is fast enough. Ask Georgia if he can catch the ball out of the backfield, which is so important for NFL teams now. (Gil Brandt says Burkhead has “an exceptional pair of hands.”) Ask Iowa about Burkhead’s incredible nine yard pile moving run from his own one-yard line that sealed the deal in last season’s game…when he wasn’t even supposed to play. That was a couple thousand pounds of football players he was moving. Yet he’s not got enough lower body strength? Really?
It’s amazing that these analysts can’t see past his 40-yard dash times.

Burkhead was far from a bust at the combine. He was a “top performer” in five of the six testing categories. He was second among the 33 invitees in vertical leap, broad jump and 20-yard shuttle run. He was fourth in the cone drills and fifth in the 60-yard shuttle. It was a tremendous performance.

Some of these rankings are just absurd. Scott Wright of www.nfldraftcountdown.com has Burkhead listed a ridiculous 21st among draft eligible running backs. There aren’t five better prospects in this class, yet Wright has Burkhead behind guys like Giovani Bernard of North Carolina, Jawan Jamison of Rutgers, Onterio McCalebb of Auburn and Kerwynn Williams of Utah State. You know, guys who performed big time on the national stage last season. Not.

Someone named Frank Cooney also has Burkhead ranked 21st…and has him as a 7th round draft pick or even a free agent. This self-anointed guru noted that Burkhead “wasn’t invited to the NFL scouting combine.” Huh? Maybe someone should clue him in.

By the way, Burkhead, at #21, is the HIGHEST rated WHITE running back. Stigma, indeed.

Burkhead has dropped like rock through out the season. I think at the beginning of the year he was a top 10 back at around 7 and projected for the 3rd or 4th round. With his injuries and relatively poor 40(many backs ran poorly) he has slipped further. Zach Line who has more size has slipped too but because he has been projected as potential fullback he has stayed beyond borderline free agent status.
