A victim of the system is right.None of the other running backs today even got over 50 yards so they are not any better. One average game and he is benched. What a joke.He showed his speed though on his reception. Two weeks in a row he almost broke one for a touchdown on a catch out of the backfield.Let's hope that next week he gets some more carries.

I knew I couldn't trust Tub-O-Lies! What a joke indeed! Tre should be starting. That's all there is to it. Every game he doesn't start, I hope they lose. War Eagle my *&%!

Tre is getting some action late in the 3'rd quarter against Ball State. He already has 7 carries for 52 yards. Maybe they will leave him in and let him run wild in the 4'th quarter.

What a disgrace.Tre Smith has been relegated to special teams and returns. He has 2 returns for 36 yards today. This is such a joke. What the hell did he do to not get a chance.Irons had a good game against Ball State today but so would have Smith. He is as good or better than any back that they have!He waited patiently only to be screwed over.If he was smart,he would transfer. He would have to sit out a year I believe but damn it,this kid should be starting! What a bunch of b.s.

Looks like they aren't going to let Tre get the ball any more today. Brad Lester ran the whole drive early in the 4'th. Now he has 91 yards. The only way Tre can get any press today is if he is put in and gets over 100. Auburn doing that with an all new backfield would get some ESPN talk, even against Bal State. They may even have 3 who go over 100. If Tre doesn't get more carries in this game, I think its safe so say his days of running for Auburn are over. Tommmy Tuberville is a piece of crap!

He ended up with 52 yards on 7 carries and 36 yards on 2 punt returns. Looks like he is being screwed over royally!

Thats a shame. I really am disapointed. Tuberville must have felt guilty having a white guy back there starting.

Hey Tre has a website www.tre22.com (still a bit unpolished seems to me) but there is a blog on there and a link to contact him. Check it out and show your support to get him starting again! Edited by: JoeV

I just did check out the site and left a message. I didn't realize he had been nursing a knee injury. Maybe he will get back to number one through practice within a couple of weeks.

That's exciting that he has a web site.It is the trend these days.Hey Colonel Reb,did you leave him a link to Caste Football? We should ask him about the discrimination that he has faced. It would be great to have a guy like that come here and post.Tre Smith is a classy guy and a hell of a running back.I wish him the best of luck all season.Get back that starting job that you deserve.Go Auburn!

Here's the letter I wrote Tre just now. I will post any reply I might get.

Tre,

I have been a fan of yours ever since I first heard about you last year. I wish I had seen the games you played in back in 2002-3. I hope you get more carries throughout the rest of this season. To me it seems like you are being under-utilized by your coach, but being a former Ole Miss fan, it wouldn't be the first time that I disagreed with Tommy T. I wanted to ask you what it is like being a white tailback there at Auburn. There have been just a few white TB's in the SEC in the last 20 years or so. It seems as though a lot of white RB's who have unreal numbers (like yourself) in high school are forced to become a FB or another position, for no good reason except for the fact that they are white. These guys clearly prove themselves as runners, in fact, many times they are faster, have better skills, and have more yardage and TD's than the usually more highly touted black recruits. Have you experienced any pressure to change positions while at Auburn or being recruited by other schools, or do you know of any other guys who have had that experience? I am really curious about that. With all that said, it is very exciting to see guys like you and Peyton Hillis over at Arkansas getting some carries in the SEC these days. I wish you the best in everything and hopefully will get to see you play on Sundays somewhere in the future. Also, you might want to check out some of the articles on this website sometime, they seem relavent to the issue of discrimination that I brought up. http://www.castefootball.us/index.asp

Thanks and take care.

Tre was only given 7 carries today, he got 25 yards. Also 21 yards on 2 punt returns. Looks like they are sticking with Irons and making Lester his backup, with Tre being 3'rd in the rotation. I wish a micro-nuke would go off in Tommy T's head!

I agree with you Colonel Reb.Smith is far too talented to be treated this way.He would be running just like Irons but was not given the chance.I feel so bad for him.

Tre scored on a 7 yard TD run and a 5 yard TD catch in the win over Arkansas last week. He says Kenny Irons got so tired, he wanted Tre to go in for him. Tre ended up with 5 carries for 22 yards, the one TD catch, and a fair catch punt return. I know he was glad to score twice, which had a real impact on the game's outcome, but come on, 5 carries! Give him the ball Tub!

Tre got only 1 carry for 2 yards today in the win over Ole Miss. He also had 2 catches for 16 yards and a 3 yard punt return. I hope they play him more against Kentucky next week.Edited by: Colonel_Reb

Well I'll be John Brown! Tub let Tre carry the ball today, after the game was well in hand of course. Still, Tre almost had 100 yards. He had 98 on 13 carries and a TD, including a 46 yard run. He didn't get any passes thrown his way today, but he did have 3 short punt returns. Way to make the most out of your carries Tre!

Tre was only used on punt returns today in the upset over Alabama. What a shame for him to be left out of the mix for a game like that. Tommy Tub-o-lies makes me sick!

I caught bits and pieces of Saturday's game just checking to see if Smith was getting any playing time. One of the broadcasters happened to mention Smith's stellar performance against 'Bama as a freshman, and then there followed a short but odd silence as if football fans ( and maybe even the announcers ) asked to themselves... "well why isn't he starting now, then?. what happened?"

Frankly, it appears Smith did all that he could, but he just got screwed out of a productive college career.

Tre hasn't been used much up till this point in the 2006 season, but he was the third leading rusher for Auburn today, with 8 runs for 57 yards and a TD! I'm glad he got the opportunity to play and had a really good average.
