Arkansas was routed by LSU yesterday, in part because QB Matt Jones had a leg injury and couldn't run, but Peyton Hillis had an impressive game. He rushed 5 times for 66 yards and caught a 7 yard TD pass. Arkansas' two other rushers used in the game went just 6/13 and 4/4. Hillis deserves to be the featured runner for the next three years at Arkansas.

Arkansas starts their spring practices on March 28th.
Peyton Hillis who is a sophmore is expected to be one
of only two running backs to get the majority of the
snaps.Expect Hillis to have a huge year.Arkansas appears
ready to give him a shot at playing tailback. This is
so exciting. We could have Hillis possibly starting here
and Tre Smith starting at Auburn. It could be a great
year for college football. If only it were September!

I hope you are right Don! Although I am beginning to sense bad vibes from Auburn, and would not be surprised to see them go with the RB from SC instead of Tre. Let's all hope I'm wrong. I do believe Arkansas will give Peyton Hillis a shot at the featured position. They are a much more white friendly school than AU. He is very fast and can shift on a dime. I will try to keep up with their spring practices and game.

So far in spring practice,Peyton Hillis is dominating.
He even broke off a 30 yard run in the last practice.
The Coach says he is standing out at the running back
postion! He looks to possibly be the starter come fall.
Here is a link to the practice with video of Peyton
running the ball and looking outstanding. They also
interview Hillis to.Enjoy it guys.

for a big guy he has decent speed, 4.6 and great size 250, i think he is equal to a jerome bettis. It is just a question of oppertunity, If Kyle Echol can make it to the NFL and put up productive numbers then i think the same will happen for hillis.

The great thing about Hillis, Kevin, is that he has plenty of time to play. He will just be a sophomore this next season.

The Arkansas Press are still billing Peyton as a tailback/fullback. We'll have to see what happens when fall practice gets here to know which one he plays at for sure. Here is how he did in the Hogs spring game Saturday. He had 14 rushes for 42 yards including 1 and 10 yard TD's, and a 40 yard touchdown catch. He did have a fumble, but was the leading rusher and second most in receiving yardage. His red team beat the white team 69-0. Looks like he did what he had to to make his case for the starting job.

hillis reminds many people of another mike alstott. My biggest problem with that is now he will be tight cast as a fullback. Nobody ever tries to tightcast the bigger black runningback like jerome bettis, or edde george as fullbacks however. If you where to put hillis against bettis and george in a forty i can garentee it would be a close race.

Hillis would outrun Bettis no doubt, it would be closer with George. Your point is a good one. That is just another unfortunate and predictable aspect of the Caste System in action.

Peyton will be the man to watch from the Razorbacks
this season. His combination of power and speed will be
very tough for teams to stop.I just don't want to see
him converted to a fullback since he is big.His position
needs to be a punishing running back.I can see him going
for around a 1000 yards this season.Go Arkansas.

I hope for the same thing, but I'm waiting for him to start the first two before I will claim it as a small victory over the Caste System.

The Coach at Arkansas says the Hillis is special. He will
use him all over the field like Auburn did with Ronnie
Brown.Peyton will line up at running back, fullback, tight
end,and sometimes even in the slot.Hillis will be on the
field just about the whole game.He cannot talk highly
enough of the talent this kid has and how he punishes
people while running the ball.I can't wait to see him
play.Hillis has done alot of speed work and will be even
faster this season.Go Arkansas!

I think Hillis will be a starter, but will probably start in only about half the games, just because of what you mentioned whitelightning. He will be used at different times and different positions, but he will be on the field quite a bit. The closer we get to the season, the more I think Arkansas won't have a true "11 game starting" Tailback. With Hillis there, it will cause the starting RB to change from time to time. Whether he gets to start in all 11 games or not really isn't what we care about anyway. His skill will help him start some games, but he won't have to start in order to be noticed. I agree that Houston Nutt likes Hillis a lot, and I believe he will use him to the teams advantage. I hate to see so fewer whites starting for Arkansas this year though. Right now, he is listed behind Howard on the depth chart, but I don't think it means a whole lot. The great thing about it is that Hillis will have 2 more seasons to start after this one!

Luckily the guy atop Hillis for HB on the depth chart is a senior so Hillis will be the undisputed star of the offense for 2 mopre years after this season. Altough I do see Hillis having a great season in 05.

Hillis will be the talk of the school. They will play this
kid all over the field. His strength and power are scary.
I can't wait to see him running over defenders this year.

Yeah, Hillis will see the ball a lot over the next 3 years, no matter what happens. I wish they would start showing JP games out in the Rockie so I could watch them from my dorm room! But, like they say, you can't always get what you want.

Good article whitelightning! I was starting to doubt how much playing time he would see, but this has greatly encouraged me. Nutt said he won't come off the field much and is the most versatile player they have ever had. He will play RB-FB-TE-WR!

Peyton Hillis has been named as the starting tailback in the Hogs' season opener against Missouri State. He'll be easy to spot. He'll be the only caucasian in the starting line-up at a skill position.

I told you guys that this would happen. They have never been so high on any player. Not even Matt Jones.Hillis is a beast and will punish people with his running style.Think Mike Alsott in his prime playing at the college level.I will be watching alot of the Arkansas Razorbacks this year.

Hillis has actually lost 10 pounds from last year (he's not gonna be a bulked-up grinder it looks like, thank God!) and looks even faster than last year. it will be interesting to see if Nutt is just giving him a token start to appease the in-state faithful who adore Hillis, or will he give him a legitimate number of touches (20-25) per game. Nutt says that Hillis will be featured, so we'll see. Nutt does not have a lot of love in his heart for white guys, despite the Matt Jones phenomenon. he signed another white tailback out of Texas a couple o' years before Hillis (Mark Pierce) and turned him from a 200-pound combo backinto a 245-pound 'roided-out anger-freak. of course, he wasn't the athleticspecimine that Hillis is, but who is?

keep your fingers crossed that this is the real deal!

I hope it is the real deal. I wish I could be there to see him start. I remember Pierce well. He could blow a hole through the line. He was the object of more than one white commentators racist remarks during his playing time. I think Hillis will run all over Mizzou State!
