Ray Van Peenan from Nj is going as a walk on at Rutgers. This is at least semi good news as he was the best back in the state of Nj. but we have the hero Ray Rice so he probably won't get any playing time. its a shame the kid was fire.

I agree backrow, Rice will have a very mediocre season and will have to go after this season to get a good draft spot. If he waits till after his Senior year, he will likely lose out big time.

According to NFLdraftscout.com, they have a 4.47 for him. Ray Van Peenan is going to a bad situation. Rice (JR) starts with the highly regarded but unproven Kordell Young (SO) behind him. Also don't forget that all-stater, and possible caste breaker Joe Martinek is there also. The cards are unfortunately stacked against Van Peenan. It's very rare that a walk-on earns carries much less becomes a starter. And it's not that all walk-ons are bad...I've always wondered that...I'm not as hard as others when it comes to the caste system, but stuff like this makes my hatred of it even stronger.

whiteathlete33, how do you compare Van Peenan and Martinek if you have seen them play? Thanks for your help.Edited by: mrjohnnynofear

Minnesota offered Van Peenan a scholarship according to Scout.com. Unfortunatly it was the only one he got though and I guess he didn't want to move that far. I know Rutgers football and they are high on Kordell Young. Van Peenan has no chance doing much of anything at Rutgers.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins
