Person wrote me asking when was the last time both teams in the world series had white centerfielders?

Also who is the current player closest to a "Mickey Mantle" type player (ex: Kirk Gibson) a fast and powerful outfielder?

Don't know the answer to the World Series question without doing some serious research.

As far as the second one, I'd have to say Larry Walker. He's agreat all-around athlete. If the injury-bug hadn't hit him so often he'd have tremendous career numbers.

After Walker it's probably Chipper Jones, who has the ability to steal bases.

Going back a few years, Dale Murphy was the dominant player in the National League from '82-'87. He hit a lot of homers and stole a fair amount of bases.

A guy who's almost completely forgotten now, Howard Johnson, put together three 30/30 seasons (at least 30 homers and 30 stolen bases) in the late '80s and early '90s.

Dante Bichette had a 30/30 season in '96.

Among infielders, Ryne Sandburg was the rare second baseman with power (282 HRs) and was an accomplished base stealer (344).

Mike Schmidt also had good speed to go with his all-time power and great fielding ability.

But Mickey Mantle was one of a kind. He was my idol as a kid and will always be my favorite baseball player.Edited by: Don Wassall
