I dont know if anybody knows/cares about the PBR (Pro Bull Riders) here at castefootball, but there was a bit of a victory castewise this year. Bull Riding has always been the most popular event in the sport of rodeo (bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, and bullriding). The PBR is just bull riding as its own sport. Almost 3000 cowboy athletes from 5 countries (USA Mexico Canada Australia Brazil) compete from January to October. At seasons end the World Finals is held in Vegas. The top 35 bull riders in the world earn a spot in the event. The winner gets a million dollars.

Rodeo has been around for over 100 years, but the PBR just finished its 20th season. Its where a bull rider can win the most money, and the bulls are worth as much money as race horses. By far the toughest sport on earth. These guys should be the most popular, and respected athletes anywhere. The athletic ability it takes to stay on them bulls 8 seconds is unlike anything else in sports.

Anyway the last three years Brazilians have won the title, but this year a North Carolina cowboy named JB Mauney brought the gold back to America. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...c6860e-3f65-11e3-b028-de922d7a3f47_story.html

Good post! I've always enjoyed the rodeo, & bull riding is the roughest event. Those cowboys are tougher than a $2 steak. I also enjoy steer "wrasslin" & calf roping as well.

Glad to hear that Carolina cowpuncher brought the PBR title back home (especially to Dixieland)! :)

The reason that the US has not been dominating PBR is because our best athletes are playing basketball and football. If LeBron and Megatron were cowboys, it would never be close.
