Pro Bowl Rosters

The rosters for this year's Pro Bowl were just announced, but not the starters. Here are some highlights (maybe lowlights is a better word):

NFC: Five of the six tackles and guards are black, only Steve Hutchinson of Seattle making it. Olin Kreutz and Matt Birk are the two centers. Jason Witten made it as one of the two TEs. Culpepper, McNabb and Vick are the three QBs -- don't you love that one -- Vick makes the Pro Bowl.

On defense Patrick Kearney is one of the ends. Dan Morgan made it at inside linebacker and Keith Brooking at outside LB.

Those are the only whites on the NFC roster except of course for the punter and placekicker.

AFC: Manning, Brees and Brady are the three QBs. Guard Alan Faneca is the only white among the guards and tackles. Jeff Hartings made it as one of the two centers. On defense, free safety John Lynch is the only white player to be selected.

That's it for the entire AFC roster except for the punter, place kicker and special teamer (Larry Izzo, who could probably be an excellent linebacker but is one of many talented whites in the NFL who must spend his entire career solely as a "special teams demon").

The Pro Bowl teams are always considerably blacker than the average already considerably black NFL roster. The players are selected by players, fans and writers. My theory is that the black players vote almost exclusively for "brothers," with the fans and writers being almost as bad. For example, "Dr. Z" of Sports Illustrated's mid-season all-Pro team consisted of 22 black starters and zero whites.

I just love it. I can see it now 3 black QBs get killed in this game. I say all 3 of them have a INT in this game. Guys doesnt it seem funny how all 3 QBs for the NFC are all Black and the 3 QBs for the AFC are white? So lets see after the NFC kills them what can be said??? Oh yeah all they will talk about is how Vick ran for 1 yard and the same for the other 2 black QBs. I hope the AFC wins the game by 50+.

The biggest injustice, but also the most predictable, was the inclusion
of the world's most overrated athlete, Mike/Michael Vick. My son and I
were watching the ESPN special about the team, and the lame, wanna-be
comedians on ESPN were falling all over themselves to proclaim, "it's
not about the numbers," or "you can't just look at statistics." Reminds
us of that odious Howard Cosell, solemnly intoning "I don't care about
statistics," as he propagandized for some unworthy player (Joe Namath
being a prime example) that he was personally enamored with. You
certainly BETTER look at stats, if you're trying to figure out who the
best skilled postition players are. Of course, if you do what with
Vick, you find a QB who is ranked 26th, I believe, in passer rating. I
submit that no QB ranked that low before him was ever dared to be
mentioned as a pro bowler. But we must remember, as Salisbury and
Schlereth repeatedly told us, that "it's about what Vick does for his
team." Hmm. I'm not sure what a QB can do for his team that is so
great, but somehow doesn't show up in any statistic relevant to his
position. Really, this Vick stuff is making the long, long media
lovefest with Tiger Woods seem like a cold, collective handshake.

I thought the Pro Bowl was based on stats. Isnt it? Thats the point of the Pro Bowl to show the best players at each position at the end of the year. If you pick the players based on how the team is doing then the entire Steelers should be in the Pro Bowl because they are the best team in the NFL. Guys the NFL has became a sport with no pride and is just based around what brings the fans and the money. The NFL only had a black eye because of all the Overhyped blacks but now since the Pro Bowl is gonna end up like this I have to say that the NFL is a BLACK FACE Sport.

Also i would like to add where The HELL is Drew Bennett? He was the best WR in the AFC and he doesnt even get to go to the Pro Bowl. If he was black then he would be going. Oh well Drew was and is the best WR based on stats but that doesnt matter because the NFL isnt based on stats anymore.

Damn straight obout Bennett.Where do we even begin on this one. He's frickin leading the AFC in Receiving!!
Any of the other players that won the wide receiver
ahead of him should give up their spot.Oh no we can't
let a white guy be a star & go to Hawaii. Then you just
might start waking up America to the b.s. that they force
feed us.Drew should be there 100% I hope he really gets
pissed off and ends up leading the whole NFL in receiving.Again and again,I know what the NFL stands for!

Instead of Bennett they pick Andre Johnson. He has basically been AWOL for the past six games, doing nothing while Houston had an outside shot at making the playoffs. His collapse is the main reason they're not going but he still gets rewarded with a Pro Bowl berth in only his second season. But he went to Miami, and he's black, and he's a great athlete with big play potential, blah, blah, blah.

How does M.Harrison make it for the 6th time in a row. Both Wayne and Stokley are having better years just
on his own team.Stokley has been thrown to the least by
far of any of them and doesn't even get a 2nd look.It is
a popularity contest and the Coaches,Players,Fans, and most media hate the white players. They make fun of them.
Do you think that you will see either Bennett or Stokley
doing any tv commericials anytime soon.I doubt it.

Add Eric Johnson to that list. He has lead TE in receptions all season on a bad team. Alge Crumpler has fewer receptions and yards and was voted in his spot. The most Glaring is all the offensive linemen - which is still dominated by Whites yet black players are selected. No Bronco Offensive linemen? This pro bowl selecting will alsotarnish hall of fameelections in years to come.

The final voting for the pro bowl is done way too early. It's a 16 game schedule and that's when the votes should be submitted at the end of 16 games.Drew Bennett would have had a better chance of making it since he started really kicking recently. As for the Mighty Vick, what more can one say about this over-hyped media -darling.This could be the worst pro bowl selection of all-time.And as for Larry Allen he is just living off his reputation,he is past his prime.Allen is a candidate for most over-rated.

I'd say a lot of them, maybe most, are living off their media-promoted reputations. Larry Allen is long past his prime as you state. Joey Porter? He had a terrible year except for a couple of games. Jonathan Ogden? We saw how good he is Sunday night against Indy.

Kaptain Poop makes a good point about future Hall of Fame eligibility. No one is going to enshrine white players in the Hall who didn't have lots of Pro Bowl appearances, which is why for decades to come, once the last of the pre-caste era old-timers get in, the only white players going to Canton will be the occasional quarterback.
