Good post, Bear-arms

The NHL should adopt the various rule changes ... except the radical overtime solutions. Too much too soon, the 5-minute four-on-four followed by three-on-three is good enough. Shootouts are great for playoff soccer games, but an unnecessarygimmick for the NHL.

But heck, The Times They Are a-Changin!

When Bettman became commissioner, an average of 7.25 goals were scored per game. During the last season before the lockout it had dropped to 5.14, about what the Oilers scored by themselves during their heyday.

I like the rules changes except for the shootout, but maybe that one'll grow on me. The worst rule of all was when they started giving a point to a team that lost during overtime a few years ago. I don't know if that one will be around this season or not.
