Here is some of the playoff thread from the ez board.

Watching the NL championship series after the AL championship series is like watching night and day. Almost all of the AL "stars" are non-white. The Red Sox have some white players but the heart of their order is non-white. Yet the NL is like a game out of the 1950's! White stars everywhere. If it was't for the goatees I would've thought I was watching ESPN CLASSICS! Odd how the situation used to be reversed with the NL the more blacker and hispanic league.

Note how the Boston Red Sox are paying for adhering to the caste system. Manny Ramierez butchered several big plays in the outfield that really cost the Sox. he shouldn't even be out there. He has been a lousy fielder all his life. If he was white he would've been banished to first base or DH. Only the caste system allows him to remain in leftfield giving away games. Ironic how the Sox one of the few teams in the AL to minimize the caste system appears to be victimized by it.

Was watching an ESPN special on Carlton Fisk. Anyone see it? Fisk was apparently a bit grumpy, a real gamer like Thurman Munson. They showed a game where Fisk catching for the White Sox got pissed when Deon Saunders, playing for the Yankees, refused to run out a routine pop up. Next time up Saunders draws a dollar sign in the batters box with his bat before stepping in. Fisk goes off on him. Giving him hell about his "disrespect" for the game. The benches cleared and everything. Isn't that something? A player giving an OPPONENT hell for being a lazy hot dog. God Bless Carlton Fisk. If only there were more like him. You should have seen "Neon Deion's" comments about the incident. Priceless! A guy who just doesn't get it.

I remember the Fisk-Sanders incident very well. Fisk was indeed an amazing player. He was not only one of the best all-around catchers ever, he caught in the majors until he was 45 years old! Catcher is the toughest position on the body by far. Most catchers don't last long, or else they eventually switch positions to prolong their careers, but Fisk did it until his mid-40s. He worked out before and after games. He was tough as nails with an attitude to match.

It's true about how the leagues have switched identities so dramatically. The politically correct used to love the National League because it had almost all of the black stars in the '50s and '60s. For the last decade it has been the bastion of white stars, though there are some good looking young players in the AL now -- Young, Texeira, Blalock, Crosby, Greene, Baldelli and some others.

Great game tonight by Lieber. The Yankees still need their
caste guys to help them win.Lieber like Mussina last night pitched a incredible game.He was almost un hittable!John Olerud is a classy guy and I couldn't be happier for him to come through in the clutch with the 2 run homer! The Astros played the Cards tough. This will be one hell of a series!

Reply Ramirez

Anybody who says that white players are slow, look no further than Boston's black-Hispanic sluggers, Ramirez and Ortiz. Slow as snails. It's too bad that they can't field as good as they can hit- like, oh I don't know, Rolen and Edmonds.

Unfortunately Schilling is hurt. That he tried to play despite a torn tendon shows a lot of guts. The media really slept on Lieber; they should've known he had a good shot at out-pitching Martinez.

Reply Re: slow black runners

Some of the slowest runners in baseball history have been black. Cecil Fielder, Willie Stargell, Randall Simon. None of the ones who are on the big side can run at all that I can think of. Frank Thomas. Mo Vaughn. Gary Sheffield. Barry Bonds was a base stealer in the pre-juice days but is super-slow now. Another one, who wasn't fat and didn't have a power hitter's body, was Ken Singleton. He may have been the slowest runner ever.

Reply | Edit Houston vs. St. Louis

It's amazing that Jeff Bagwell is so ignored by the media. Bagwell is a .300 career hitter with 450+ homers. Tremendous stats. He is also a very typical looking white guy. Plain features, medium build, beard. I would say that Bagwell looks more like the average fan then any other superstar in baseball. In the old days advertisers craved that kind of player. Someone the fans could relate to. But now the advertisers crave the guys that look nothing like the fan base. Another way that sports is used to diminish the image of white men. You have to be some kind of hulking, primitive, brute, to be a star nowadays.

Also Larry Walker put up ALL_TIME stats while with Colorado and was virtually ignored. Good to see him getting some props in this playoff series.

I wish this series was the World Series.

I agree with you on Bagwell. He is only around 5'10 to 5'11. Its very rare to see a power hitter that short these days! St Louls looks incredible.Rolen with 2 homers and Larry Walker adding another.Every time Houston gets a lead, they can't hold off the Cards. Both of these teams are a blast to watch. I still think Houston has a shot though with Clemens and Oswalt pitching in games 3 and 4.

The Red Sox' backs are really to the wall now. To pull off a win over the Yankees they'll have to be the first baseball team ever to overcome a 3-0 series deficit. They have the firepower to do it. Whether or not Schilling can pitch may factor in as well. It would be sweet revenge if they can make history and beat the New York Non-Yankees in the process!

It was great to see Jeff Kent win it for the Astros with a three-run blast. There was a lot of great pitching in that game. I like the Cards a lot and would like to see them finish the deal after their tremendous regular season, but my heart is with the Astros and Red Sox this year.

The Sox hung tough facing sudden death. Would like to have seen someone other than Ortiz get the game-winning hit, but at least it wasn't Manny Ramirez. He butchered a ball hit to him in the 11th inning, not getting in front of it and letting it get past him for an error. Such an amazing lack of fundamentals, even in a game of that importance!

Boston's already made history by being the first team to come back from an 0-3 deficit and force a Game 7. Should be very interesting tomorrow.

It was a bizarre scene, even for the ever-growing police state in this country, to see a baseball game being played with riot police lining a good portion of the field.

I have to give props to the Red Sox.They have hung tough
and shown alot of heart!I still think that the Yankees will win the series but it's down to one game for all of
the marbles.I couldn't be happier with how Houston has
played. They have the Rocket going tommorow to try and
clinch it.Clemens may not be fully rested, but I still
wouldn't want to bet against him.Go Astros!
