Players' Football Association Premier League team of the year:

Van der Sar (Man Utd), WHITE
G Johnson (Portsmouth),MULATTO
Ferdinand, MULATTO
Vidic, WHITE
Evra (all Man Utd), BLACK
A Young (Aston Villa), BLACK
Gerrard (Liverpool), WHITE
Giggs, MULATTO
Ronaldo (both Man Utd), WHITE
Anelka (Chelsea), BLACK
Torres (Liverpool), WHITE

Note: This team is selected by the votes of players. The choice is therefore partly political. It is not objectively selected on pure merit.

With around 30% black players, and 7-8% mixed, plus a lot of political correctness, and Whites being the overgenerous, there is a strong tendency to distort the figures in favour of non-Whites.

Notice that the three most debatable choices - Johnson, Evra, and Young - are all non-White, while Anelka is in only because of his form in the first half of the season. The only slightly questionable White choice is Torres, and that's only because of an injury that held him back for much of the season.Edited by: Karl Baxter

I am surprised that lampard isn't on there. Young doesn't get much time on the National Team even though he made this team. I would take rooney over Anelka any day and maybe even Torres. Rooney played great over the weekend. I still would like to see Rooney as a pure central midfielder. What about an English Team of Owen and Davies at forword. Joe Cole on the left, Gerrard, Lampard and rooney on the right. Or switch Cole and Rooney. And you would still be leaving out guys like Carrick,Barry, Hargreaves,Milner,Downing. I wonder if Davies is going to get a spot on the national team. He actually scores, unlike heskey.

I don't understand why Capello would want Ledley king to play. I hear he can only play 1 game and then has to sit out awhile. But he wouldn't let Owen play. Isn't that interesting.
