I will put up my prediction now.

I know how this fight will be played out. Pavlik is not going to give up his advantages of height and reach to fight Hopkin's dirty inside fight. Pavlik likes to move in with viscious combinations and destroy at short range -like he did Miranda- but he is not going to do that in this fight. Pavlik will stay outside and bomb from long range. He does not need to do anything else, although he can if he choses to. Pavlik is like a smaller version of Vitali Klitschko: he will just stick to what is best for his body size. If the basic jab, half hook, and right cross are enough than why bother with anything else?
If Hopkin's thinks that by fighting at 170 he will have more energy and be less weight drained the same holds true for Pavlik only more so. Pavlik is naturally bigger than Hopkins so less weight to lose will give Pavlik even more energy during the fight. Expect Pavlik to be even busier, at least with his jab.
Taylor beat Hopkins in both of their fights with the jab alone. Pavlik's jab is better than Taylor's as we saw in their two fights. If Taylor can beat Hopkins from the outside with the jab alone, then absolutely Pavlik will do the same. That is not just a prediction -it is the way the fight will transpire.
Pavlik will not be able to dominate Hopkins by backing him up against the ropes because Hopkins is still too crafty, and dirty, and it will not be worth the risk. In his past three fights Pavlik has stayed outside and we can expect the same. Pavlik will easily win a unanimous decision based on accuracy, volume, punching power, and reach advantages. To beat Pavlik one must have a higher punch output, at least match his power, be bigger or out-reach him, or be able to take some of his bombs to land one's own. Hopkins does not possess any of those abilities. I doubt Pavlik will knock out Hopkins. If anything Hopkins will do what is fashionable right now and not come out for one of the late rounds, hence a stoppage. But my official prediction is a Kelly Pavlik unanimous decision.

Does anyone know who the judges and ref are going to be?

After some research I found that the original ref, Earl Morton was removed after Pavlik's camp filed a complaint asserting that Morton and Hopkins were/ are friends. Morton was replaced with Benjy Esteves Jr.

What is Atlantic City's reputation regarding boxing decisions?Edited by: Poacher

Sportsfans here is my prediction. Like Mapleleaf stated, Pavlik must fight tall, that means using his shotgun jab from long range and do it for the first six rounds. He must not fall into the trap of fighting the crafty Bopkins on the inside or clinches. Every now and then lower the right on B-hypes head. The Key is to be ultra consistent with that powerful jab. He must not try to jump in with a left hook or right until after the six round. If he does he could end up like Joe or worse KO'd like Hatton.

After the six rounds start landing the right and left hooks to the body and head. If Pavlik follows this stratagy he will grind down Bopkins.

Hopkins is a great fighter with a great chin and heart. However, father time is at the doorstep. Pavlik if following the above game plan, will render Hopkins in dire straits. I see Hopkins holding on to dear life the last two rounds and finishing the fight standing. Pavlik will get the UD decision with almost KOing Hopkins. Pavlik however, must always be careful. Pavlik with the UD decision!

44, you just saved me 50.00 dollars, thanks for the link. Too bad we are not in Vegas, because your dinner and drink bill would be on me. I am a pretty good Crap player. Again thanks for the info. GO Kelly!

Don this is where White Men dominate/kick ass and don't give into the White Traitors of the NFL like those f..king GMs and Owners. Come on, you should shift your anger on them and urge those white players who can play to stand up and say something ie; Mike Hass, Hester and Leonard etc.

MMA is ok but this is where history and true fighting about. GO Kelly, can't wait!

Kelly hasn't looked good yet. I hope Hopkins begins to run out of gas. The black corner man has Obama written on his forearm coverings.

I am reading a play by play on another site. They have it 8 rounds to none, Hopkins, and Kelly lost a punch for hitting while holding. That sound right to you guys watching the fight?

Wow, Lampley is trashing Pavlik.

Greatest comeback in boxing history, out of retirement, second only to George Foreman. Fack.

How about that - holding and hitting by Hopkins. No point deduction?

The trashing of Pavlik continues unabated. F**k HBO. Edited by: White Shogun

I had a feeling Hopkins would take advantage of Pavlik's plodding feet but never did I expect this

Hopkins was too tricky for the young Pavlik at this point in his career. When Hopkins took on someone equally experienced (or close too it) in Calzaghe, he couldn't do anything after the first round. Kelly hasn't really lost anything from this fight. Different weight class against a much more experienced fighter. Kelly will be back!

Well, at least Calzaghe defeated him. With Klitshcko's victory and Kimbo Slice's upset, we still have plenty to celebrate. I have to see this fight. I'm really surprised Kelly didn't take it to him. Wasn't he a heavy favorite?

Hopkins controlled distance. Hopkins was turning, and moving, and coming in with short flurries all night. Pavlik let himself down. Hopkins won with a 40 punch per round output. Pavlik, known to throw as much as 100 at times, threw in the 30s. The worse offense Pavlik made was not jabbing. No jabs let Hopkins control distance. Pavlik let himself down. I think he was psyched-out. That is the only explanation I can give.

Did anyone hear what Hopkins said to Pavlik after it was over? I heard the word "black" and something about Pavlik dominating the middleweight division like Hopkins defended himself in his weight class. That sounds like good advice.

This fight tells us how great Joe Calzaghe is. He out boxed, out punched, and out worked Hopkins.

He said something about don't let the loss get you down, and to dominate the division like he did. It was actually somewhat classy for Hopkins to give advice to the younger fighter like that.Edited by: Sean

Hopkins is a real classless *******. At the end of the fight he pushed the ref. aside to get at Pavlik some more and for a few moments there was a push-up. Hopkins even looked like he was tearfull after the fight. He came in with his hoodlum/punk idiot friends, he wore a hood into the ring, and in the end he acted like a hoodlum. What a loser for a winner.

Hokins won that fight. Pavlik should have never signed that fight, at 170 lbs. He made a mistake. Now he will have to live that forwever.

His saving grace that he will have his belts and not lost to a 160 lbs.

Hopkins proved to be a special fighter at 43 yrs old. I just proved a great fighter that Joe Calzaghe is.

Man, Pavlik did not follow my statagy.

Pavlik has more to learn. He can't let this fight discourage him. He just did not do what he had to. By the 11th round he had only thrown 429 punches. For him that is pathetic. He should have been throwing at least 30 jabs per round alone! And where was the right uppercut I was calling for a week before the fight? Where were his elbows? Where were his right counters when Hopkins kept jumping in? Where were the short bursts with his hands in front of his own chin like a tall man should? Psyched-out, that's where.

I think it was a huge mistake for Pavlik to move up that much. Bad decision by management. Anyway, hindsight is 20/20. I think Pavlik lost alot of luster in many people's eyes. Not so much in my eyes because I follow the sport pretty closely. However the aura of invincibility is wiped clean. The way Pavlik was beaten was so thorough, so dominating, so convincing that I believe this fight has the potential to ruin Pavlik's career for good. I really hope that does not happen because I like Pavlik alot.
