The man who invented the jump shot died today at age 78. The jump shot, goaltending, the widening of three second lane, and the shot clock, has affected the NBA more than anything else.

Mr Arizin was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1978 and is one of the fifty greatest players to ever play the game.

The NBA used to be so fun to watch. My, how times have changed. Maybe the new crop of Eastern European players can have a significant impact in the future.

I just think its a shame of how little homage their paying, that being main stream media mainly ESPN, to a HOF player. Especially one that averaged 22+ PPG, over a 10 year career.

It's an absolute embarassment how this man has been "caste(d)" out of the sporting world.

He was also quite athletic. He could literally jump over the moon. This was before dunking and jump shooting was in vogue. The set shot and the hook shot were the big shots before he and other pioneers made the game more athletic.
