The I.O.C. Executive Board recommended boxing will maintain its place in the 2020 Olympic games in Toko. The total number of boxers will remain at 286, however, two men's divisions will be eliminated and be replaced by two new women's divisions. This will result in 8 men's divisions and 5 women divisions. The changes are being made in the interest of gender equality in boxing.
