Does anyone know how many players, if any, have thrown for 5000 yards in a season? I checked and Peyton Manning, Brady, and Favre have never done it. Brady came within 200 yards one season though.
no, its only Marino, and now Brees I didnt see Marino do it or what kind of players he did it with but Brees did it with alot of his main weapons hurt for a good portion of the season. So that makes 2, he only needed 16 yards to pass Marino, and there was 1 second left on the clock, Panthers were in prevent defense, Brees could have easily completed a 20 yard pass to break it, but it look liked he didnt want to break it that way. The only thing worse than the two teams in the Pack-Lions matchup were the announcers. Standeford beat Harris deep and then had to come back for an underthrown ball, and the announcers dis Standeford. He beat Harris 3 times today made one great catch and still he is not good enough for the caste "Uncles."
Is anyone else enjoying how single handedly Pacman Jones took the Cowboys out of the playoffs? I am loving it, and watching the reaction of the Cowboys owner was priceless too, I guess giving twenty chances to a worthless thug wasn't such a good idea after all.
Hell yeah, I would much rather see McNabb and the Eagles in the playoffs than Jerry Jones, Pacman Jones, Terrell Owens, Roy Williams and friends. Jason Witten needs 98 yards in this game to reach 1,000 for the second straight year.
The only sour note for me in the Eagles/Cowboys game is that I haven't seen much of Curtis. Even though when he did make his lone catch he got praised by the commentator for being an overall talented receiver, with good speed and acceleration, which was a nice surprise.

Mike Tomlin has made a bunch of poor draft choices so far, and we've discussed them on the Steelers thread. He drafted gangly, bad-knees, throwing-challenged Dennis Dixon with their 5th round pick this year and didn't use him but for a few snaps in the final game today. I would be very surprised to see him draft another QB in 2009. But then again, Tomlin might think that Dixon and White would make good backups for a couple years til he can get rid of Big Ben after letting him get killed behind a bad OL the last two years.

Chad Pennington has taken the previously horrible Miami Dolphins to the playoffs, knocking out the team that dumped him and his supposed noodle-arm fora gunslinger. Talk about payback for Chad. Quite a story considering all the drama. He won't even be in the running for MVP, but should be.
