Thrashen your weekend update with photos now rivals ESPN's Dan Raphael's boxing update on Monday's. This is meant as an extreme compliment! Thanks for your outstanding posts.

Thrashen, no Gerhart mention!!! This guy has been a beast for me in FF. He literally won me my fantasy league last week and should help me move on in the playoffs this week.

I think it likely that an all white FF team would have won any format:
QB-Brady (Matt Ryan also had a good game)
RB1 Hillis
RB2 Gerhart
WR1- Welker
WR2- Nelson
Flex- Walters
TE- Gronkowski
K- Prater

In fact with both Hillis and Gerhart starting you have a possibility of two starting White running backs for the first time since, probably 1985 or so, well before FF was around!

Six defensive tackles were selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, with Marcel Dareus, Nick Fairley and Corey Liuget leading the way. All three were beloved by white trash DWF's and the media who dubbed them "can't miss prospects", but none has made a huge impact so far. Dareus, filling in for the Bills lone Pro Bowler in 2010, Kyle Williams, has 4.5 sacks, but 2.5 came against a beaten down Redskins team, playing a backup QB and backup center, in Toronto. Since then, he hasn't done much at all (rushing the QB or stopping the run). Fairley and Liuget have 1 sack combined this season.

nfl_u_fairley11_576.jpg
marcell-dareus-draft3.jpg

The next three DT's that went in the first round have 6 sacks combined:

Phillip Taylor 13 games (starter), 4 sacks
Cameron Heyward 13 games, 1 sack
Muhammad Wilkerson 13 games(starter), 1 sack

So, who has the most sacks of any rookie defensive tackle (6), you might ask? Could it be a mere 5th round pick (142 overall), who wasn't expected to make the team (according to the "draft experts") and isn't even starting for a playoff contender, yet?

klug_karl_ci.jpg

Yes, Klug has 19 tackles (17 solo), 6 sacks and 2 FF's so far this season. Would anyone here be surprised if Klug never got a shot to be a full time starter in the NFL, despite this quick start? Anyone remember a guy named Sam Rayburn who got off to similar start in his career, but was soon out of the NFL because "he did not look the part"?

P.S: By the way, Chris Neild, who snuck in at the very of the draft (253) is also having a strong rookie year: 10 tackles, 2 sacks and doing great work against the run in limited playing time as a Nose Tackle in the Redskins 3-4 set...Also, rookie DE's/OLB's are making a huge impact with Watt, Kerrigan and Brooks Reed leading the way.

Haley and Sparano both fired, both replaced by blacks. Apparently the NFL's latest twist on the Rooney Rule is that White head coaches fired during the season must be replaced by a black as this has been happening for several years now.

Very nice post, as always, TT. You have one of the best memories of anyone at CF.

Karl Klug’s last name literally translates to “wise” or “clever” in High German dialect. When I first heard his name during his time at Iowa, I thought of the famous Brothers Grimm tale, Die klugen Leute” (The Clever People).

And yes, I followed Sam Rayburn’s career under Andy-Pig in Philadelphia, as he was one of the few white defensive players during that two or three year (2004-2007?) period when he was on their roster. They’re currently administering the same treatment to talented DT Derek Landri. I cannot fathom how much “fun” Rayburn had at Jewry Lurie's Plantation, being one of the few white defensive players (Mark Simeneau and Paul Gransmanis) and all…

I do appreciate the kind words concerning my “weekly synopsis.” I hope it isn’t getting too repetitive, since I’m covering many of the same players again and again. Also, I do regret using that slur in the caption below the Jordy Nelson photo…but my list of possibly “J” alliterations is growing a tad thin, haha.

For tonites game lets see if the Rams can get up to four white O-linemen starting. They are a classic case of what can happen when a team falls on hard times and a) the teams main sumos all go down with injuries or are benched, and b) the team has a core of talented enough white backups who are ready to take over. Most other sumo dominated teams don't have many white backups to step in and take over, but St Louis, Dallas, Philadelphia and Buffalo are recent examples of this happening, as is Atlanta about 3 years ago.

Another lousy MNF matchup. There's been no shortage of them on Thursday, Sunday night and Monday this season. Why are teams like Seattle and Jacksonville on national TV multiple times?

Rams with 6 White starters on defense again -- 3 on the line and a snow patrol at LB. Too bad Craig Dahl was demoted, he was a tackling machine at safety.

The 3 Stooges in the booth can't stop complimenting Tarvaris the Terrible -- he of the career high 10 TD passes to go with 12 picks -- but at least the DWFs in the stands are quick to boo him.

This isn't done out of respect imo. They constantly cover him to make the average dwf tired of him. I hear it all the time on message boards. "I'm so sick of Tebow, the media is constantly hyping him up, I can never get away from it. He is winning games but come on, the hype is out of control and makes me not like him" That is basically what some dwfs say, some are nastier about it. The only positive is that they usually type those messages on a thread where someone is praising Tebow.

I definitely agree with this. They did the same thing when he was in college and I must admit it had that same effect on me , as I was a DWF back then.

This is some ugly football compared to what we saw yesterday. MNF is clearly not what it used to be. I'm especially puzzled by how and why a garbage team like JAX got two games on Monday.

Let me join in the chorus of praise for Thrashen. Hands down, my favorite poster here. Thanks for all your insightful contributions.

I've been visiting the Vikings fan forums off and on all season, to gauge the DWF attitude towards Gerhart. To my astonishment, they are now really supporting him. I couldn't find a single negative comment about him yesterday, and many of them want the Vikings to trade Peterson! Earlier in the year, they were in full DWF mode- Gerhart was "too slow," a "bust," and should be moved to fullback. Shows that, even to DWFs, a few good games can change everything.

I'm actually disappointed that virtually all of Tebow's critics in the media have now joined the bandwagon. Merrill Hoge humbled himself yesterday, even Chris Carter is backing off, and Steven A. Smiff admitted he was "humbled" on "First Take." Just shows that, even with a figure as despised as Tebow, Lombardi's old axiom rings true- winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

The season is getting interesting now. We will have the Patriots and Texans to root for in the playoffs.

Thrashen, nice info on Klug's name. Just looked up Rayburn and it was a very sad story, in retrospect. Perhaps the worst in Fat Bastard's inglorious career. Sam was an undrafted free agent from Tulsa, with excellent size (6' 3", 303lbs) and exceptional quickness and strength. After playing sparingly during his rookie season, he broke out in 2004, at the age 23, and had a monster year for Philly recording 28 tackles and 6 sacks in 16 games (only 2 starts).

Word was Fatty-Reid was very impressed. So impressed, that Rayburn was given a 5 year extension, reportedly in excess of 10 million (1.3 mil bonus), even though he wasn't even eligible for free agency. So I thought it was safe to assume he'd be one of the few white DT's allowed to start in NFL. Didn't happen, for whatever reason he played sparingly for only 2 more years (2 starts). He was completely out of the NFL at the age of 26, even though he never had a major (career ending) injury.

By the way, I was trying to think of the last NFL team that started a pair of white DT's and the first that immediately comes to mind are the Philadelphia Eagles of the mid 1990's with Rhett Hall and Pro Bowl caliber player Andy Harmon. That was with Ray Rhodes as the head coach. Team also started Bill Romanowski (OLB), Mike Zordich (SS) and rookie Mike Mamula (DE) on defense. On offense, however, they were pretty much all black, with the "articulate" Rodney Peete leading the way at QB.

Why do I even bring up 2 starting white DT's?

Well, in addition to Klug, Tennessee also drafted a "super productive/high motor" interior lineman from Auburn's national championship team, Zach Clayton, in round 7, who had an amazing Pro Day. Had he been black, starting at Auburn and putting up those gaudy workout numbers (ran in the 4.6's at 299 pounds)**, is there any doubt at all he would've been a first round pick? Perhaps second round, at worst? Heck, some scrub afflete from San Jose State rocketed up into round 2 after jumping out of a swimming pool on Youtube?

All but one, from what I can tell. The disgraceful Colin Cowturd was his usual self today, mocking Tebow and doing his best to discredit Tim's efforts. He also tried to downplay Gronk's monster effort yesterday. This clown is now officially at the top of my list of repulsive ESPN personalities. In terms of the playoffs, I have this crazy feeling that the Broncos are headed to the Super Bowl. If they win against NE this week, anything can happen.

As usual, you’re correct.

I watched ESPN’s “NFL Matchup,†featuring Merril Hog(e), Sal Paolantonio, and Ron Jawarski. Hoge seems to have completely overhauled his loathsome “opinion,†as he was nothing but complimentary towards Tim Tebow. After watching Tebow win a “shootout†with Minnesota, no caveats about how the Bronco defense “wins every game†were uttered, either. The Corporate Cynics may have wriggled back into their Menorah-lit lairs to mourn, but I’m not buying it.

Now that Tebow is 7-1 as a starter (second only to Rodgers in terms of winning percentage), ESPN now seems to be employing the “over-expose the white athlete until it becomes annoying†technique. For the past few weeks, they’ve been discussing Tim Tebow during nearly every second of available air time...even more so than their instant-helicopter-coverage during the 5-year period in which Brett Farve would discuss retirement in any manner whatsoever. Eventually, even those who once adored Favre grew tired of the sickening volume of Mass Media exposure and eventually hated him. And if, God forbid, Tebow should fail to deliver, this technique will have a similar effect.

Apparently Klug didn't get the memo: First round picks wear diamond pinky rings and earrings to the draft. Nick Fairley looks like a total queen.

Good point. I wish this would have worked with Tiger Woods but apparently the desire to hear about that clown is insatiable.

Denver vs. New England is what the caste-clowns are waiting for. A high powered offense is the worst match-up for the Broncos as the style that they play puts them at a disadvantage in a shoot out. That's why the Lions were able to steam roll them by scoring early and often. If they can beat New England, especially with the Patriots pathetic defense then the Broncos have to be considered a conference frontrunner.

Klug is a beast and hopefully Titans, who have a history of using white d-linemen (Vanden Bosch, Babin, Ball) use him up to his potential, he can be at least as good as Kyle Williams, if not better!

well, it worked for Broncos with Vikings. i think Tebow can burn that secondary with Decker and even Thomas, i mean these guys tackle themselves (ie. Moss TD catch from Banks?, hilarious stuff, with one cut he got rid of two "defensive" blacks, sorry, backs).

Great post Truthteller.

Almost every time a White athlete is "allowed" to play on the defensive side of the ball they perform at a high level. If you calculated the percent of blacks on defense who play poorly, the number would be mind numbing. I don't believe anyone could argue successfully, using statistical and visual evidence of course, that Whites should not make up at least 70% of the defensive players in the NFL. Of course we'd be told all these star White players are merely aberrations. Exceptions to the rules if you will.

It’s rather comical to juxtapose Klug’s tall, athletic, muscular build (coupled with his aesthetically-superior European facial features) with that of the slovenly, portly, demonstrably-hideous, diamond-encrusted Nick Fairley and know that the two actually play the same football position….let alone that the two are (allegedly) members of the same species of mammal…

Then again, it wouldn’t be too difficult a task to “convince” the fine citizen featured below of the latter or the former…

The Pats vs Broncos is this weekend's marquee matchup. Bellicheck seems to really respect and is a fan of Tebow, I think the Pats considered drafting him but McDaniels scooped him up a round to early. Tebow should have good success both running and passing vs the Pats defense, that secondary is a joke.

I am most eager to see what Brooks Reed, JJ Watt, Connor Barwin and Cushing do to supa-afflete ScAM Newton

I would have to rank Tom Brady a tad bit higher than Christian Ponder, who has one win as Minnesota's starter (over Carolina), the same number as McNabb with Minnesota. Minnesota is 2-11 now.

Ponder threw two big picks against Denver, the pick 6 by Haggan early and the "gift" at the end of the game. Before the 2nd pick, the game was tied with not much time on the clock.. Minnesota should have simply ran the clock out and try to win in OT. Minnesota needed to regroup, and OT would have given them their best shot.

As far as the Chicago game, Denver was very fortunate to be playing Caleb Hanie instead of Jay Cutler. There's no way to slide around this fact. Hanie is 0-3 as Chicago's starter, which includes a 10-3 loss to woeful KC (now without coach Haley). Believe it or not, many talking-heads felt Hanie would lose again in Denver. What kind of "scalp" will Hanie turn out to be when he (likely) gets Cade McNown-ed at the end of this season? Chicago is solely missing Jay Cutler, not the (over-exposed) Matt Forte or anyone else.

If you look back at the stint of AHDIW in Tennessee, you would see mostly subpar teams losing to him. Every year, many AFC teams are weak (moreso than the NFC in my view; What would happen if Scam's Carolina Panthers were in the AFC?). But that didn't stop the MSM from "projecting" Tennessee to defeat the elite teams and make multiple Super Bowls (Skip Bayless for example..).

If anyone wants to debate me, go for it, but I won't tolerate ridiculous ad hominem. Respected posters should be able to have discussions with other respected posters.

Deadlift, i agree but then again, Denver defense is better than Patriots, in my opinion.

I can't believe Jacksonville is on national TV -- yet again -- on Thursday, against the Falcons. What's up with that? Did the corporate media moguls see something last season to indicate that the woeful Jags were going to be a Super Bowl contender in 2011?? Or did they think this would finally be David Garrard's breakout season lol? It's beyond weird when teams like Jacksonville and Seattle are on national TV more than the Patriots and Packers.
