Beasley might’ve reached his potential in the NFL in its current caste-loving state, but he’s barely been tapped if we are talking about true potential. despite his small stature, he’s frequently regarded (certainly by any who aren’t enamored with chocolate-colored skin) as possibly the best athlete on the Cowboys, with the rare combination of elite speed, leaping ability, AND short-area lateral quickness. he also has good, if not great, hands, the ability to get open over the middle, and above-average run-after-catch ability. if he were more of a featured component of a team’s passing attack, there’s no legitimate (physical talent-based) reason why he couldn’t replicate the production of a Wes Welker or Julian Edelman. after all, he’s faster than either of them, and isn’t that the narrative that we’re told over and over? speed is the “reason” White athletes aren’t “good enough?” now if he’s as clutch and tough as those two dudes, that’s a different discussion, but i’ve seen nothing to indicate that he shouldn’t be given the opportunity.
