I think Pittsburgh plays on Monday evening, but could be wrong.

In any case, I caught some of a couple of the games this weekend and the rosters seem darker than even NFL rosters if that is possible. Where are all the white men?

Groshek probably went USFL so he can get some more RB film instead of being a practice squad fullback in the NFL.

Agreed it was a good move on his part. As much as I am aware of the caste system it is still jarring to see so few white faces in a second-tier league.

Groshek starting. 4 carries so far 14 yards or so. Another guy came in, so it looks like he’ll be sharing carries. At least he started....

Pittsburgh looks fairly White friendly. How does FS1 carry a game with literally no fans in the stands? Did they offer tickets for the game? I’ve seen more fans at a girls flag football practice.

Bailey Gaither with a decent reception inside the ten for Pittsburgh
Groshek had a couple of ten yard runs back to back.....

I'm all for this league if it can keep a few more of our guys chances to play football. If they standout maybe the NFL will give them a second look. Groshek
is looking great so far!

What can I say? I am proud to see Garrett Groshek as a starting running back in a professional league. I hope he tears it up (Pittsburgh’s line needs to open a few more lanes for him). Honestly what would be great to see is the USFL and the XFL develop over the next few years and merge into a fully functional second league that attracts top talent. Maybe some more of our guys get a shot as so many of them are cast(e) aside.

Groshek looked fluid....There were no holes...Reminded me of Gerhart trying to gain yards in Jacksonville....Groshek’s co running back had a decent run late in the game or he’d have one yard per carry...GG ended up with 3.5 maybe.....Tough sledding

16 for 55 for Groshek. Not bad considering OL didn't do much. He outperformed his Co-RB. Who only had 12 for 23.

I watched a little of the game and Groshek did well considering the lack of holes to run through. But as Rocky B mentioned, Toby Gerhart was given no help and no slack when he started for Jacksonville and was quickly vilified and never given another chance.

The games seem dull, especially with no fans. There's more cameramen, helmet cams and drones than there are fans. I'm too lazy to look up why all the games are being played in Birmingham and in front of no fans. Anyone know?

Beats me. Just did a quick search and no clear answer as to why they're only being played in Birmingham. I'm guessing they cut a deal with the "Magic City" . Cuts down travel costs and apparently there are numerous hotels within walking distance. Tickets are $10 so local diversity in Birmingham should be able to afford it.

I think it was for the inaugural season. Not sure I like that idea.

What these upstart leagues need is a contract with a local smaller stadium -soccer for example - or arena that the stands will look more full for good optics. No shame in playing before smaller crowds but it is bad optics to have a near empty stadium.

Agreed Warhawk_46! Tulane played in a nearly empty Super Dome for years; until they built their own On-Campus Stadium where 15,000-20,000 fans look much different! Better optics!

Garrett Groshek had 77 yards rushing on 18 carries for the Pittsburgh Maulers
WR Bailey Gaither 7 catches 117 yards receiving & TD!

Birmingham Stallions LB Scooby Wright is a fan favorite

I agree. I think the xfl will flop too. NFL Europe was backed by the NFL and it went under too. Granted that was a different market.

I just don’t think people want spring football.

I've yet to watch any either.

Will make it a point to watch some of Groshek before this League goes under. Pathetic how they can't get fans in there at $10 a ticket! Looks like USFL didn't think Demographics through in Birmingham.

I just hope Groshek, Gaither and the few other White athletes are able to get some exposure.

I just check the box scores.

Scooby Wright was one of the biggest NFL snubs. I remember when he was projected as a second-rounder in the draft, going to be an NFL starter...then came the mysterious fall which only seems to happen to those of pale hue.
