Win or Lose, Pelphrey saves job with "elite" recruits

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/14041490/win-or-lose-pelphrey-saves-job-with-elite-recruits

I thought it was a coaches job to produce wins?..

I understand the concept of "trying to build a competent team" -- giving a coach some time to try and achieve that... but, frankly, that's "hard" to do with the typical, selfish thugs (you know, most of the "highly-rated" prospects) and guys that leave the program after 1 or 2 years.

Year-after-year, there will always be "major" programs (or programs that think they are relevant, or hope to be relevant soon), that assembled a group of supa-affletes with "upside," and they end-up playing a horrible brand of basketball. It's not just the losing, but the atrocious "style" of play that totally DESTROYS most of the SCOUT/RIVALS "rankings"...

Frankly, when coaches bring in the "uncoachable" they deserve all the losses that they get. But.. But.. My players are "elite".. I brought in the "elite"..!! Aren't you contented enough by the "fact" that you are watching the "elite" in action? It's an honor for you to see these "gifted" athletic phenoms in action! I deserve 20 million dollars a year, Win or Lose!!

Look at Georgia Tech. There was the fluke when it lost to UConn in the final, but ever since they have really sucked but Paul Hewitt has brought in a bunch of "one-and-done" super-recruits.
