i don't watch much baseball, but i'm still surprised that no one has begun a thread on the young rookie phenom, centerfielder Mike Trout. at just 20 years of age (and as of this post), Trout is hitting .354 with 6 home runs, 26 runs batted in, and 15 steals. defensively, he's completely transformed the Angels' outfield with his speed and glove.

Trout is so good, that even the negrophiles at ESPN are raving about him.

along with fellow rookie wunderkind outfielder Bryce Harper, Trout is poised to be a superstar face of MLB ... and he doesn't even turn 21 until August 7.

here's hoping for a long, healthy career for a great ball player, who is also by all accounts a great young man.

Jimmy, it's ironic you started this thread today as I was signing on with the intention of starting a Trout one myself. Been meaning to do it for a few weeks but got lazy.

I'll add that Trout's a local Northeast guy, like myself, hailing from Vineland, NJ. Nice to see some talent coming out of the "cold" regions and not just the southern / warmers states with all-year baseball.

Another thing I've been observing is the rebirth of White speed in baseball. Trout is currently tied for 1st in the American league in stolen bases with 15. The other player is young White 2nd baseman, Jason Kipnis, who is another power and speed guy. In the National league, Cubs center fielder Tony Campana is 2nd with 18 steals in only half of the average at bats. Jordan Schafer and Drew Stubbs are also holding their own in the steals department. Add in Brett Gardner (AL steals leader from last year) and Jacoby Ellsbury, when they return from injury, and we have some speed demons to watch this year.

All I have to say about Mike Trout is----good catch for the Angels. I saw him the other day and he was reeling in one ball after another> There is nothing fishy about this guy, no part of the game he can't tackle. I saw him scale the wall to steal a hit. The Angels netted themselves a good one!

Good article. The Angels become instantly watchable with Trout at Center.

    Excerpt:

His speed was startling, Morhardt said: 3.9 seconds from home to first, exceptional for a right-hander. As he watched Trout take batting practice, his mind flashed to the can’t-miss prospects he had once faced: Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Barry Bonds.

    ......

Hunter said Trout had “Rickey Henderson ability,” referring to plate discipline and the ability to distract pitchers on the bases. But Henderson, the career leader in stolen bases and runs, was 5-foot-10. Trout is 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, and it seems natural to wonder if his speed will hold up over time.

“What he’s going to run like when he’s 35 is anybody’s guess,” said Jerry Dipoto, the Angels’ general manager. “But what he’s going to run like when he’s 21 to 25, there’s no reason why it should not be a skill he maintains. He’s such a quick-twitch athlete.” ..

Trout and Trumbo hit HR's. Trout going 4-6 now hitting .355. Trumbo 26 HR's, hitting .311!

The guy is Mickey Mantle like. The best blend of power and speed to come along in a while. I don't know about batting him leadoff though. But the Angels do have a lot of big bats. I can see them going all the way.

No question about it! At only 20 years old and only 69 games for him; he's leading the AL in AVG. .355 and SB: 30 has 100 hits again in only 69 games!

    He's 2nd in The AL in runs, 64; 3rd in OBP, .408 and 6th in SLG. .582.

His 13 HR's projects out to 30.5 in a 162 game season and he will get stronger, so could easily be the next 40/40 player!

Lots of young white talent in the MLB, Strasburg, Harper, Trout, Bruce, Bumgarner, Trumbo just to name a few,

I believe Leonardfan started an MLB under 25 thread. Check it out!

There is a great article on Yahoo.com today about Mike Trout. It says he is the fastest player in Baseball and leading both leagues in steals. It also talks about his incredible talent on offense & defense. The kid can do it all.

I love the comparison to Micky Mantle from above. The kid can flat out do things that are simply amazing!

In case anyone missed Sunday Night Baseball last night, it was the Rangers vs Angels and Mike Trout was the main feature.

ESPN went above and beyond in making Trout the focus of the Angels and the game. We would expect this with a black athlete but Trout got talked about relentlessly the whole game. From constant camera shots of him to an interview with Al Kaline(who compared him to Mickey Mantle), to showing stat after stat of his gaudy accomplishments to date in MLB. They gave Trout all the credit in the world for how Pujols turned his season around.

One camera shot was of Trout, Pujols & Tori Hunter talking in the dugout and ESPN was giddy pointing out how the veterans were listening to the rookie about the pitcher and his at bat.

In the 1st inning Trout led off the game with a triple and the announcers were beaming and saying how only Trout could have gotten a triple out of it. Check it out on MLB.com and see how right they were. His hit looked like a double all the way. It was amazing!

The fans too have made him the face of the Angels. Every night seems like Mike Trout night when they play at home.

ESPN also replayed his brilliant catch in centerfield earlier in the year calling it the best catch in all of MLB this year.

Just a great, great night for displaying white athleticism!

Living in the DC area alot of people are caught up in Bryce Harper - he is a very good player for sure but I tell anyone I can about Trout - of course this area is littered with DWF Fan boys who's allegiance to the Nationals is correlated to the Nats record.

I am hoping Trout has a long and healthy career (same for Harper). It is nice two have the two best young players in the MLB be white - I cannot remember the last time a non-white pitcher was really afforded any sort of positive media attention.

Trout another HR! 18 from the leadoff position? He now leads AL in AVG. .351, stolen bases 31, runs scored 78, and is right behind Ortiz in SLG% .607!

Trout HR # 22 last night in his 95th game!

I know it's early, but here's an amazing stat on Mr. Trout. He stole his 38th base last night. For his career he's now 42 for 45, a 93% success rate. I don't believe anyone has started out so successfully!

I love to watch Mike Trout play. A 30/50 season might be possible this year.

An interesting article that tells why Mike Trout should have won the Gold Glove award this year over Adam Jones, but didn't.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/01/s...g-improves-but-still-has-a-major-absence.html

    A quote from the article:
“The managers and coaches just love certain guys. Adam Jones is one of those guys. The numbers always say he’s an average or below average center fielder. Honestly, when I see him play, I feel the same way. But the voters love him.â€￾

Ridiculous that he didn't win the golden glove. Based on defensive, base running, and offensive stats Trout should easily win the MVP but he's not diverse enough so the media has already given it to Cabera. The reason that is always touted is the that Cabera won the triple crown - first since 1967 and his team made the playoffs. Well the triple crown numbers weren't that great and Trout was right there with him on those stats. Trout, on the other hand, is only man in baseball history to hit 30 home runs, steal 45+ bases, and score a 125 + runs! The only one in history! And he did it missing a month of the season. His team won more games than the Cabera's Tigers as well and they had a significantly higher winning percentage with Trout in the line-up vs Cabera in the line-up of the Tigers. And never mind that Trout is an outstanding on defense whereas Cabera is average at best.

add - If you added all offensive bases produced via your at bat and your base running, Trout had more bases in a month less of baseball than Cabera had in a full season. Since Trout is also far superior on defense that should be the end of the arguement. No more stats needed.

You could see that Trout was going to get the MVP stolen from him when several players and baseball personalities started publicly calling for Cabera to win the MVP before the season ended. Practically no one stood up and said they thought Trout should win. Here's a good link that puts up an almost indisputible arguement for Trout: http://angels.ocregister.com/2012/10/11/mike-trout-mvp-exit-polling/125862/

Congratulations to Mike Trout and Bryce Harper for being voted MLB's rookies of the year! This is an exciting time for white players currently in MLB.

i agree, that not enough threads exist for stand out White men. Lumping the person together with his team does no justice (and is wrong, seeing majority of teams in sports are anti-white). Seeing the angels thought their 200 million mixed-raced wonder would lead them to bliss lol. Now it's the trout, trumbo, and pujols i guess shows. White men are best in baseball hands down.

Harper didn't deserve it sadly though clearly. Wade miley for the D-backs, had all-star numbers (wade is white though, so either way lol). While harper was average to below average.

I'm not so sure if Harper was clearly undeserving; 22 HR's, 98 runs, 9 triples, and a .270 BA, ( 19 years old), all way higher than HOF Ken Griffey Jr.s rookie season!

Madison Bumgarner ( 2 World Series rings at 22 years old), had similar numbers as Miley's, but wasn't an All-Star either.

Miley being 25 years of age winning 16 games may not have been as impressive as what Harper did at 19?

BUMGARNER is way under the radar, in my opinion!

Trout closed the gap on Cabrera a little last night going 2-5 and 3 RBI and his 24th HR.

    Trout .331
    Cabrera 1-3 .349

12 games left, it's possible, but not probable as jaxvid mentioned, if Cabrera sits.

If Cabrera sits now Trout would have to hit .500 over his next 12 games to catch him.

I would like to have seen Trout get 200 hits, 100 RBI, to go along with his 104 runs and 100 BB.

He's close with 183 hits and 89 RBI!

He could do it, if he gets really hot, with 1.5 hits/ game and .84 RBI/game.
