Mike Miller: When you're unathletic/white like me

"Miller joked that he has not been able to avoid getting ribbed in the locker room for his footwear. "They've been on me for it," Miller said. "When you're unathletic and white like me, you got to have the lightest shoe out there. They feel good on my feet. It's no disrespect. I didn't know you guys hated each other like that. I've been on Front Street in the locker room. I told them 'No disrespect.' "

Basically, his new Wizards teammates hate the fact that Mikey shows up to training camp wearing Lebron's Nike shoes. Dumb little Mikey explains that he only wears them because they're light on his feet and he sorely needs them due to the fact that he's white and unathletic. I used to be a fan of the guy but not anymore. He sounds like a b!tch.

I hate when a white athlete makes these type of comments. Miller is one of the more athletic players in the league so I don't understand why he would say this.

He's scared and wants to be seen as PC. It shouldn't be a surprise, considering the modern NBA. Pathetic stuff!

Is it possible he was being facetious? Maybe. Maybe not. I'm hoping he was just sort of making fun of the steroetype.

If he was being facetious it's too ambiguous to clearly discern. The vast majority of readers will read it as a serious statement, as it may well have been. Makes him sound like a white Uncle Tom.

Absolutely. I'm sure he didn't mean it (sounds like self-depreciating "humor"), but alotta DWFs & bruthaz will take it seriously. IF he was serious...he needs to reattach his nards & get some racial pride. It's one thing to have humility, and another to downgrade your race!

Or even yourself for that matter. My God if he views himself as so nonathletic, how did he believe he was able to get through four years of NCAA basketball and then average 13.9 points per game through his NBA career? It is ridiculous that he would even feel the need to say such things even in jest. No black would say such things to capitulate to White teammates. If they even put up half the numbers he has, they would be lobbying for more playing time and demanding more money. Edited by: Bear Backer

If you have ever watched Mike play then you know is highly atheletic and with great basketball intelligence.

Mike at that moment succumbed to the constant drum beat that the Media protrays white mean in America. After twenty years of this Mike had a "brainwashed moment" an uttered that false remark about himself and whites in general He also thought it was harmless.

The problem is that when young whites hear this from a clearly superior player, the brainwashing starts on them in a young age. Mike doesn't understand the consequences of these remarks. He adds to the constant drum beat and the disparging of whites. I am sure if someone explained to him what is going on, he would realize his mistake. Remember Jason Sehorn making disparging remarks about whites playing cornerback couple of years back.

The sad thing is the MSM is now having great white athelets do their bidding as well as GMs, Owners and Head Coaches of the NFL thrashing white men on a daily basis.

Very sad indeed!

What do stupid DWF get anyway for admiring "superior" affletes like Lebron? NOTHING!!!!!

It's funny how DWF's idolize someone like Lebron, but are told the same time they cannot emulate and play like him, because they are WHITE, absolute balderdash!!!

If whites are so "nonathletic", why then do they dominate demographically the Summer and Winter Olympics???

Not to mention, whites dominates all forms of combat sports, and do extreme stunts like sailing around the world. ONLY WHITES can do that, blacks can only do the most basic of sports like running and jumping, whites can excel in many more feats besides jumping and running.

I guess the problem lies in the brainwashed PC-controlled media, whose sole desire is to completely eliminate whites from every competitive sports. They won't admit it, but the signs are all over the darn place. It's just that the average White person is too ignorant and afraid to face the whole darn truth they are being eliminated slowly from the face of the Earth.

I've just lost all respect for Mike Miller because of this shenanigan, a wasted take on one of the better ballers of the NBA. If my good man Dirk Nowitzki were to say such similar stuff, it be the most horrible thing ever. At least Larry Bird had the guts to speak against this ugly truth. Edited by: j41181

Let me say that I casn't stand it when whites use "white" as a pejorative or belittle themselves for bring white. So, as has been pointed out, Miller's comments will not be hlepful regardless of what he might have meant.

Bird totally embraced the fact that he was slow and couldn't jump. The same was true about Magic Johnson too, but few brought it up.

Bird had solid hops before his chronic back problems. I wouldn't define Bird as fast, but boy did he have a quick first couple steps and great lateral agility in him- and the best hands I've ever seen when I see highlights of him. Agreed, GLS- Neither Magic nor Bird were athletic freaks like Jordan or Lebron. However, we've got some white freaks like Chase Budinger and Joe Alexander, if Blacksimus wants to compare measurables!

Yeah, Bird could jump before his back injuries. I saw a video of a young Bird doing a 360 jam! I'll see if I can find it.

Bird's vertical leap was only 28 inches according to one site. I personally don't buy that. It must have been somewhere in the mid 30's.

A 28" vertical for a 6'9-6'10 guy means he's getting way above the rim. My vert was 33-34" (at 6'8) and a 82" reach, and I was able to almost hit my elbow on the rim. Bird was an athlete...and the best player to step on a NBA court!

Bird was a true champion in every sense of the word. He could score, rebound, and was probably the best passing big man of all time. Bird's statistics are incredible. According to racist Isiah Thomas if Bird was black "he would be just another player." Hmm I sense a bit of jealousy from the bruva.

... To say nothing of Bird's 3-point shooting ability, lights out! Or the way he could make any afflete look foolish when he posted up on them.

i've read Bird's biography, and in it he dismissively talks about his dunking ability, admitting that early in his collegiate career he was a big dunker, routinely doing 360-dunks and so forth. he added that injuries took their toll, but dunking was never very important to him.

Winning was more important to him than flashy play, and if that meant conserving energy by making a lay up instead of a flashy dunk, well then so be it.

For a man his size,a standing 28 inch vertical jump is impressive. I would not be surprised if other great leapers took twoor threesteps before their jumps, and then recorded it asa standing vertical leap; it's very much the same way that 40 times are exaggerated by football players.

AM, good points. Those 40"+ vertical leap claims are contrived. Most hoopsters jump off 1 foot/on-the-run vs. planting & jumping off 2 (as I did).

I could (easily) dunk off 1 foot, but had better elevation by planting+exploding. I could grab the rim with 2 hands in 6th (at 6'2), and dunk in 7th grade (at 6'4). By 9th grade I could do 180s, reverse & tomahawk dunks (at 6'6). I think I got my 1st 360 the summer before 10th grade...ah the good ol days!

I never had great hang time, but got good elevation.
