Mike Kudla is the unsung Buckeye. Before the Fiesta Bowl, when they mentioned his bench press goal (225 lbs 50 times), nobody really paid too much attention. Here's why they should:

Mike Kudla is 6'3 265 pounds. He holds the Bench press record for Ohio State; 610 pounds. He can bench the NFL combine 225 lbs 43 times, tying the record (set by now Pro Boxer Leif Larsen). He said he will be able to bench it 20 times come combine time. I believe him. Add to this fantastic upper body strength the fact that he can squat 750 lbs! So he will be the strongest player in the draft...as well as the best athlete.

Mike Kudla, despite his size and strength is not muscle bound. Last time checked, he ran the 40 yard dash in an astounding 4.46 (compare this to #4 pick of the 2005 draft Cedric Benson, who ran a 4.58!). He can vertical jump 37 inches (compare this to #3 pick of the 2005 draft Braylon edwards, who jumped 39, and is known for his jump ball capabilities.

I havent seen his name mentioned much on any draft previews, though one person did call him the next Dwight Freeney. I personally think he has the potential to be much better!

Mike Kudla is big, strong and fast. He should be a most welcome addition to any NFL team. I hope Ohio State keep's getting these White players. There are enough good White football players in Ohio and Western Pennyslvania to fill a lot of college teams with real talent.

Great posts Gary and Sean. I thought about starting a Kudla post but was waiting till the draft got closer. Yeah Mike was 1st team All-Big Ten and was 3rd on the team with 6 sacks(of course behind Hawk and Carpenter). Yeah I really think his stock will skyrocket after the combine when he blows the bench record away and shows off his "deceptive" speed.

Believe it or not, I thought the same thing. Can you imagine the damage he could cause? He outweighs Alstott by about twenty pounds, and ran the 40 faster than the second RB picked in the 2005 draft!

I'd like to see anyone try to tackle him, or pry the football out of his hands!

Obviously Kudla will be with an NFL team this summer, probably a late round pick 5-7th, hopefully will make a roster. He could be one of those tweeners that gets used in diverse situations, like a Willie McGuinest type.Edited by: hollywoodnorth1

Do you guys honestly believe all these damn publications? GMS and scouts for teams do their entirely own rankings and don't pay attention to these stupid publications at all. Afterall the men who do these stupid rankings never played football so they really know about as much as my mom does about football. GMs and scounts know that Kudla is a good player and prospect thats why Kudla will be drafted in the 3rd or 4th rounds.

Who knows. I think (no offense) that they know more than your mom, however, every year some surpise picks come up at the draft that none of these "draft insiders" and writers of "college football rankings" ever saw coming. I mean, nobody saw Rodgers going to the Pack at 24th overall. Still, some 80% of the players they predict do indeed get drafted...and normally within an accuracy of 1 or 2 rounds. I believe these publications (somewhat). And whether Kudla goes 3rd round or 6th round..I couldn't care less. I just want the guy to play and start. Edited by: hollywoodnorth1

Kudla is a workout freak and he will help himself greatly during the combine... he might actually go pretty high

All I'm saying is these "draft experts" are alright at predicting the 1st rd at most. After that its all up in the air and each team is uniquely different in needs and what they look for in players.
