Hass was thrown to twice tonight, he caught one pass for 8 yards... Bears seem to eb happy to add more hands-of-stone receivers and can thank Marcus Monk and Earl Bennett for easy drops of great Caleb Hanie passes...

The Bears are really starting to anger me and not just because of the Mike Hass situation. The whole Chicago Bears franchise is becoming one big joke that deals in excuses and broken promises. Everytime Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo open their mouths anymore I feel like I am listening to a politician try to blow smoke up my butt. The Bears played disgracefully poor during their game with the Chiefs and our "Vaunted" defense looked lazy. Briggs looked like he quit playing after getting his big contract and no one looked disciplined on their tackling. I will be honestly surprised if this team can even get to 6-10. Hopefully this will be the last campaign with Lovie Smith and his coaching staff, I am tired of throwing my money down the toilet and tired of being insulted by this organizations propaganda that it is trying to do everything to win and are on the way up, when it is clearly on the way DOWN!

The wretched Brandon Lloyd is moving into a starting spot, while the media is preparing the way for the waiving of Mike Hass.

Bears must sort out receivers, but really need to run the ball

The Bears figure to get a final evaluation tonight of the wide receivers and how the position will stack up, at least to start the season.

Brandon Llloyd figures to have an edge for a starting job now after his strong performance last week with Kyle Orton. The team is going to have to whittle down the position and make a decision if five or six wide receivers are kept on the 53-man roster. Mike Hass was on the team all last season but dressed only for the Philadelphia game. There could be more pressing needs elsewhere, especially on the lines. The Bears also like to stock Dave Toub's special teams with reserve linebackers and defensive backs.

I think a perfect example of egos at work can be seen with the Bears and Mike Hass. I think Don Wassal already mentioned this phenomenon but it is spot on. Hass clearly should have been in the mix with all the dropped passes and struggling offense last season. Racist no Lovie Smith still refused to play him. Even the GM made a comment about how he thought Hass should have been activated and played in a few games when the Bears were mathematically out of the playoffs to see what they got in him.

Now Lovie and the GM that stands by him will have to protect their egos. Hass will never get playing time in Chicago because they know in their hearts he is "at least" a decent NFL WR from what they have seen of him in pre-season and college (won the best WR in college award). Playing Hass now and having him succeed would infuriate all the newly overpaid black FA WRs they just brought in. The black WRs, marxist media and drunken fans would all be asking "who the hell is this random white boy, the next Ricky Prohl I guess, where'd he come from... duhhhduhh?" even if he only made slot WR. There are egos to protect. Or if you are one of the new overrated black FAs signed by the Bears you might say "who is this no-name white veteran that's never played before stealing my limelight?" Basically, Hass could make a lot of people look bad!

Hopefully thier "starting" WRs will suck this season (shouldnt be too difficult, I know) and Hass can FINALLY enter the NFL.

I really hope he makes the team, because I know if he gets one chance....he'll be Issac Bruce #2 (with more athleticism).

They still have Hester, Davis, Lloyd, Booker, Bradley, and the rookie Bennett. So that's at least seven receivers still on hand counting Hass, and one or two more cuts to come depending on how manyWRs they decide tokeep.

Josh Reed, who won the Biletnikoff Award in 2001, is still playing regularly for the Bills. He's in the starting lineup for tonight's preseason game against the Colts. Reed is slower and much shorter than Mike Hass, yet was drafted in the second round and continues to play despite a most unremarkable NFL career -- 228 receptions in 6 seasons, just 11.8 yards per catch and but 8 career TDs.

From Rotoworld:

Bears informed WR Mike Hass of his release.

Hass wasn't drafted by GM Jerry Angelo, so he didn't get a look. The former Biletnikoff Award winner needs to improve on special teams to have a career.

Yeah, that's an understandable explanation. Anyway, the competition was fierce on the Bears; what chance did Hass have when the legendary Brandon Lloyd is a starter, and Devin Hester is considered the #1 receiver? Edited by: bigunreal

I knew it was coming, and I'm glad in a way because Hass was never going to get a chance with the Bears, but seeing that sentence really angers me. The NFL is despicable.

People in this country would think that we on this site are extremists. But in reality it is the whole NFL system that is extreme.

We all know that this former Biletnikoff award winner is only suited for special teams. We know this even though not once has he been played in an NFL game, other than a few chances in pre-season, where he did fabulous.

When will these players start speaking out. Hass is the perfect candidate to do so, if he does not want a broadcasting career. Maybe speaking out harshly on the issue will give him a book deal about how every stretch of the way he was called an "over-achiever" despite consistently achieving big time at every level when given opportunity. "And then I was quickly given another label "a racist" for complaining these unfair labels had to do with my race.

Does anyone remember the article last pre-season, where No-Lovie Smith couldn't even pronounce Mike Hass's name. Something like "is it Hass like Pass or Hoss?" Shows how much Lovie cared to learn about the former winner of college's most prestigious award for wideouts. Lovie had already made his mind up from the get-go on Hass, just like he did with white RB Brock Forsey (called him a team manager). Brilliant play by these two in very limited opportunities would not change his racist mind. I honestly think Lovie is a racist and will be rooting strongly against him for the rest of his hopefully short career as a head coach.

I can't believe Mike Hass didn't even get a chance to play when there were plenty of opportunities for him to play. It's as if Lovie Smith got him in just to let him rot away. Definatly a racial thing in my view, there's no other explanation!

When the GM even makes a remark suggesting the coach made a mistake by not giving Hass a chance last season, you know something was very wrong with Lovie's handling of the situation. Can you imagine, a caste team's GM actually mentioning that he was "surprised" that Hass didn't see the field even once last season!

All I can say is that if Hass was black, we all know he would have been given a chance by either the Saints or the Bears, but he was white so he wasn't. It is just as simple as that. Anyone who wants to claim otherwise knows they are lying, or knows absolutely nothing about the NFL. A black player with the sure hands, the football IQ and who constantly impressed in camp like Hass did over the course of his 2 seasons in Chicago, would be playing at least a 4th or 5th reciever in the NFL, even if he was not considered a deep threat. They certainly would not have been allowed to jerk him around and tell him he had to excell at everything besides receiver. WR is much too thin of a position in the NFL right now. Virtually any retread reciever with even a small margin of success over the course of his career or even marginal black prospects out of college can usually land somewhere and find himself in a favorable poisition to make most teams.

I hope Hass can land himself a shot with some team on a practice squad during this season, and perhaps he will be like other white recievers who gets cut from his first two teams before he gets a real chance. If not, he should go the route of the CFL like Mike Furrey.

I am actaully glad the Bears let him go. Screw the Bears and Lovie "I will only accept white skill position players at QB" Smith. I look forward to the day that Lovie Smith gets his walking papers. The only downpart is that the entire Bears organization is run by idiots, so his replacement most likely wont be any improvement. As much as Hass has been screwed around, he deserves a team that will at least give him a chance and understands what he could potentially offer them. Thats all any player can ask for. Unfortunately it will never be the Bears, that would require a basic understanding of offense, which the Bears haven't had since the Day's Mike Ditka was roaming the sidelines and the punky QB was calling audibles on the fly.

The next skill position player to go from Chicago should be Greg Olsen. If I were him, the first chance I got to jump, I would. I will be very interested to see how Smith and Ron Turner use Olsen in the passing attack this season, alongside Lovies little buddy Dez Clark. Angelo took Olsen as a number 1 pick and so far the Bears have shown they have no idea how to include a potential offensive weapon of his caliber in their offense.

I think what disturbs me the most about it is after making the comment that Angelo did, combined with the almost historic collapse of the Bears following the superbowl,is that Angelo did not fire Lovie on the spot. Something is definitely wrong with the Bears "more than usual even" since Lovie Smith took over as headcoach. There has been no accountability of anyone including the coaches and players, the absolute racist treatment of two white skill position players (Forsey and Hass) and a general disregard for discipline under Smith. Olin Kreutz and Fred Miller got away absolutely scott free under Smith for their fight that was investigated by the FBI, involving Miller's Jaw getting broken and Kreutz getting hit in the head with a dumbell.

I am starting to wonder if Angelo is having second thoughts about Smith but is afraid to fire a black head coach after the way the word racism was thrown around so easily in the Chicago media after Cubs fans had their fill of Dusty Baker and when the Bears didn't want to pay Lovie top dollar. One of Castefootball's hall of fame players is finally cut. Mike Hass fantasy of playing for da Bears is mercifully over. This guy two years ago should have asked to be released and tried with a another team. He did himself a disservice and whites by thinking Lovie Smiff was going to give a shot just to be on the team.

He was hoping for a chance to make the team! With his ability and record he should have seen the light years ago. So what now, hopefully he hooks up with a team and some No White Trader Coach will give him an opportunity. If not, f..k the NFL and start another career. Become a poster here with real life experience.

Hass is scheduled to work out for the Giants this Friday. With the plethora of talent the Giants have at wide receiver, such as the likes of Sinorice Moss, I wouldn't expect Hass to merit a contract offer.

This "tryout" is a microcosm of all that is wrong with the NFL.Hass came into the league at the same time as Moss and here he is fighting to stay afloat in this league, although he is a far more accomplished wide receiver. While Moss, this non-productive, extremely overated, product of the caste system gets endless chances (also see,Tim Carter, Josh Reed, Dennis Northcutt, Troy Williamson, et al ) because of his "upside". How come we never hear of Hass having an upside or any other white player for that matter.

Besides "upside," another Caste term used exclusively to describe black players is "raw." This is always in a good way, to try and explain lack of production, mistakes, etc. A typical comment would be something like, "Michael Robinson is raw, and is making the transition from quarterback, but has tremendous athleticism and upside at the running back position."
You know, the kind of things that were never said about Eric Crouch, for instance.

Wow, good example, using the best overall NCAA athlete of his generation (Crouch) compared to an incredibly marginal ("raw") talent like Michael Robinson. Tim Tebow, like Crouch, could do it all in the NFL...here's to hoping he doesnt end up the same way.Edited by: Thrashen

Just read that Mike Hass has been signed once again to the Bears practice squad. How long must he wait to finally be active on an NFL roster, for at least a game?
