we've not talked about him as a pro, and he was INCREDIBLY under-rated as a collegiate player, but Michael Desormeaux, a rookie out of Louisiana-Lafayette is battling for a back-up safety spot (as well as the obligatory White Special Teams Demon) after being a record-setting quarterback in college.

as a senior, Desormeaux was named his conference's Offensive Player of the Year. as a junior, he averaged over 100 yards rushing-per-game!

the first player in 20 years at LA-Laf (and the first-ever quarterback) to accomplish the feat.

not surprisingly in today's NFL, this gifted White runner isn't given an opportunity to play on the offensive side of theball.

incredibly underrated is an understatement heh. It was amazing to see him live, too bad I dont have any video of him. I guess the Jags like to pick up athletic White quarterbacks and make them switch positions. if anything he should be tried at wide receiver since they don't want to use him at qb, but he has played db before so I could see him doing well there. I haven't gotten around to watching any of the Jaguars preseason games and not sure how much they have used him but i am going to try to soon.

Michael Vick in college vs Michael Desormeaux

This is not their career yards, Vick played in a bowl game and Desormeaux filled in at QB before he became a starter."

good comparison, dwid. and very telling!

from a physical standpoint, Desormeaux isn't as fast in a straight line as Vick is, but the cajun Michael is the exact same size as Vick and has otherwise been more productive. if the Wildcat is en vogue in Jacksonville, he'd make an excellent operator. also, hehasideal sizeto be a tailback. but instead of using his ball skills they've put him where the ball will virtually never touch his hands.
