FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots are terribly saddened to learn that Marquise Hill's death has been confirmed by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office. The New Orleans native was reported missing Sunday night after suffering an accident while jet skiing on Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. The U.S. Coast Guard led the search and rescue efforts, teaming up with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department.

"We are absolutely heartbroken to learn of Marquise's death," said Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft. "Our immediate thoughts go to Marquise's mother, Sherry, and the rest of his family. He was only 24 years old and his death is hard to comprehend. Marquise was a very respectful young man who worked hard to improve and was always eager to contribute to the team, both on the field and in the community. On behalf of the entire Patriots organization, we extend our most heartfelt sympathies to Marquise's family and friends who mourn his loss."

"We have suffered a stunning and tragic loss today," said Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick. "Marquise will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring young man who established himself as one of the year-round daily fixtures of our team. I send my deepest condolences to the Hill family."

Hill, 24, was born in New Orleans, La. on Aug. 7, 1982. He attended De La Salle High School, where he earned national acclaim as one of the top high school football prospects in the country. He was recruited to Louisiana State University, where he helped the Tigers win a national championship in 2003. The 6-foot-6-inch, 300-pound defensive end was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft and was a member of the Patriots' Super Bowl XXXIX championship team his rookie year. He appeared in 13 games in three seasons with the PatriotsEdited by: whiteafflete15

Another tragedy due to white racism in America refusing to teach black people to swim better. No justice in America!

Some of you guys come off as real ********, a person died. You don't know what kind of person he was beyond skin color. I do agree with certain aspects of this site being proponents of the hardships and stereotypes white athletes face in our society but its no reason to mock or make rude comments about someone who has died.

Yes, maybe a bit harsh, but some of us choose to think about the 100 innocent whites girls raped and 10 innocent white girls gang raped by blacks daily. This doesn't take into account the black on white murders, assaults, intimidation and overall black culture creating wiggers and generally enslaving whites who have to work to support the net welfare recipient black race in the US.

These things are NOT mutually exclusive in my mind, and I can't mourn for people who by their daily actions bring about the destruction of my civilization and ultimately my peoplehood.

Sohe died. So what? It means nothing to me. Perhaps to his friends, family and possibly some teammates it may produce some sadness. Should I grieve at the passing of some football player? Why ? Because he was another black victim of that racist lake in Nawluns or that he played for the Patriots? If he had respected the law and wore a life preserver,he'd probably still be alive.

Some statistics to consider. Many wonderful, decent people die every day. If I don't know any of them, should I mourn? Or is that being hard hearted, cruel or callous??

* 1.78 deaths per second.

* 107 deaths per minute.

* 6,390 deaths per hr.

* 153,000 deaths per day.

* 56 million deaths per year.

Why are you guys mourning some football player you don't know and never heard of? Have you ever watched him in a game? How many of you even knew who he was before this article was posted? Do you guys read the obits in your local newspaper everyday and mourn all the normal, regular folks who die everyday?

And another thing, how many of you who are posting here out of 'respect' for the deceased REALLY give a sh*t anyway? For the most part you're just mouthing platitudes and just doing what's expected of you to be politically correct. At least those of dissing this article are being honest about what we think of it.

yeah, i really think that posting an obituary of obscure black player is totally out of place here at caste football.

I am a big Pats fan and as far as contributions to the team, Hill did not make much. In fact, he was kind of a bust. He was a second round pick and hardly ever played. But still, I do not see how this is not sad nor do I see how some of you can make light of the fact that a man has died. And I wasn't aware of the rule that we are only supposed to care about white people who die. This is an NFL forum, and that is NFL news. It's not like I'm posting the obituaries of random people, he's a player in the league. And I must admit it's kind of sad when I know that had Imentioned any random white NFL player who died, many here would mourn, but since Hill is black no one cares. I thought that this site was supposed to root for white athletes, not hate black people. And speedster, great comment, I couldn't think of anything more funny or original than changing white to black. Hilarious. AndI wonder how fast you reallyare. I guarantee I could kick your ass in a race.

So now, just so I understand, we aren't supposed to talk about general occurrences in the NFL, only subjects specifically involving whites? Because I'm pretty sure talking about Vick's criminal offenses and Portis's reactions does not have much to do with white players at all. I didn't think posting this would be a big deal, I don't remember setting up a shrinefor the guy like some of you are maknig it out to be. All I did was post an article.

No, probably not. The only white D-lineman on the Pats was Mike WRight, and he already had way more time than Hill. The only possibility is that some obscure undrafted white free agent makes the team and proves himself worthy of playing time. An unlikely shot, but hey ,Mike Wright did teh exact same thing.

That's a little bit dramatic.

I suppose I can see posting it as a news item related to the NFL, but I don't see it as 'very sad news,' either. I took your post to mean that we should lament his passing; the truth is I don't know him and have never heard of him. I only have so much grief to go around, I'm sorry, sincerely.

The criminal records of black athletes is relevant because they serve to highlight, 1) a double standard in the treatment of white and black athletes, and 2) the depths to which professional sports has sunk in our modern era. The criminal records of white athletes are posted and discussed on this site as well, it's just that there aren't as many of them. See various threads about Kircus, Mark Chmura, Brett Favre, et al for examples.

I doubt that I would have expressed a great deal of sorrow over the passing of a white player, either, although I might not have been so sarcastic in my remarks about posting his obituary on a site dedicated to white athletes.

I knew those arguments were coming, but they are more indirectly related to white players. Not that I disagree with that argument ( In fact I just posted on that topic in the Kircus thread), but I just don't see why that makes my post irrevelent. I could make a meandering argument about how the deaths of black athetes are more glorified than whites in the media (obviously) or some other random point, but whatever it's not a big deal I'm done defending myself.

I explained why I wrote what I did in response to your post; it's not a personal attack on you, whiteafflete. I also explained that I could agree with posting it as a news item about the NFL, but that I did not perceive it that way (even if that is how you meant it) at the time.

I also agree that perhaps enough has been made of the issue, too, so I'll join you in dropping the subject.
