Didn't see a Mark Teixeira thread, so I thought I would start one. Teixeira hit career HR #372 last night and his 9th of the season.

Since Adam Dunn retired after last season, 462 career HR's, number 35th all time, Teixeira is now the leading active white HR leader.

He is currently tied or 75th all time with Aramis Ramirez.

Here are some of Teixeira's career numbers:

BA: .272
HR: 372
RBI: 1195
H: 1700
R: 1013
D: 375

Has led the league once in HR's, RBI's, Runs, and Total bases twice.

2009 World Series Champion.

Could he be Hall of Fame worthy someday?

Hall of Fame worthy often depends on two non baseball factors. One-where did you play, two-who likes you. Teixeira hits it out of the park in the "where you play" category, playing in NY and having decent stats almost guarantees you a spot in Cooperstown. He also is fairly well liked, doesn't have any obvious negatives (yet) like steroids or caught on tape saying the N word.

Another way to get in the Hall is to have a long career so you can pile up numbers. Right now his stats are not very good for a 1st baseman. He does drive in runs, and if he gets to 500 that will be big. But the low AVG is a burden. What's his WAR? Future HOF voting is going to be done by stat nerds and they will use their favorite numbers to decide yea or nay.

Teixeira hits his 14th HR of the season last night, moving him past Carlton Fisk and into a tie with Jeff Kent and Norm Cash all time.

Teixeira having a good season also had 4 RBI.

Teixeira, Cash, and Kent are tied for 70th all time with 377 career HR's.

I didn't realize Kent hit that many HR's!

Wow! Teixeira hits his 17th HR of the season and 380th of his career, passing HOF's Tony Perez and Orlando Cepeda with one swat, and sits alone at number 67 all time.

With a couple more good years, Teixeira is a Hall of Famer!

Teixeira 2 HR's last night tying Johnny Bench for 60th place all time with 389 HR's. Has hit 2 more tonight and has past Craig Nettles for 59th with career HR's 390 and 391. Should reach 400 before the end of the season.
