This is a real tough break. Chase Lyman, who was absolutely tearing it up for Cal, is out for the year with torn knee ligaments. He had been leading the country with an unbelieveable 29.6 yards per catch average.

This is so sad because the NFL will really have even more
of a reason to not invite him to the combine.I hope he has a speedy recovery and makes it back for a bowl game.
He is a blast to watch play.

Before Lyman got hurt,he was averaging 103 yards receiving per game despite not being thrown to that much.

Well as you guys know,Chase ran a 4.4 in the 40 at the
nfl combine last month. He did all of the strength and
quickness tests.Lyman looked incredible coming off such
a major injury. What's interesting is he petetioned the
NCAA for a 6th year of eligibility because of all of his
injuries. We should find out any day now what happen. If
not, hopefully a nfl team will see that he is a diamond
in the rough. He can be a superstar if he can just stay
healthy. You have to root for this kid.Good luck to him.

Man, I hate to hear that about him. I hope they will let him have a fair chance once he heals up. He will make big plays for some team.

Lyman is one of the sleepers of the draft.Boy can he
run.If someone just gives the kid a chance. He has fought
back from so much pain.I'm sure they could just load
his contract with incentives for staying healthy, and
the number of games he plays.Good luck to Lyman!

Lyman tore the ACL in his left knee for the second time in seven months during the Saints mini-camp and is probably out for the '05 NFL season. He was one of just two white WRs drafted last month, going in the 4th round. He has a world of talent but has been incredibly injury prone. A real shame.

What a shame for Lyman.

One site I checked claimed that scouts "snickered" after the Saints drafted Lyman. Unfortunately, such an injury has the additional negative of adding to the stereotype of brittle white receivers.
