Illinois sophomore big, Mike Tisdale, is White I believe.

I like his game.

Chas McFarland has great length, and he would have a ton of double-doubles if he wasn't taken out early in many games. All he needed was a rebound or 2 in those games...

that is almost the exact same play (but from the opposite side) that produced the famous Josh Heytvelt dunk a couple of years ago.

Doubt it would make Sports Center, since it was on Fox Sports' Detroit affiliate, but 6-7 Oakland freshman Drew Maynard caught a sweet alley-oop against IUPUI that was replayed at least five times during the game.

At a Christmas tournament last year at Michigan State, Drew threw himself an alley-oop off the backboard.

Jimmy Chitwood</span>, that's an impressive list of Long and Athletic</span> white players you have there. But what I find most disturbing is that most of these guys hardly get any playing time. Believe it or not, most successful white players I have seen these days have to be broad-shouldered and have huge biceps, a huge reason why most white players aren't viewed as Long and Athletic.

indianwhite,

my perspective on the topic is a bit different than yours. from my vantage point, i feel that just because a person is long and athletic doesn't mean he can play basketball worth a damn.

there are numerous styles that can be successful on the basketball court, and numerous body types/talents that can provide success. it's just that modern America (especially the NBA) has portrayed the high-rising, streetball game as the only style worthy to be played.

your pointing out the broad-shouldered, powerful white men is an example that refutes that nonsensical position: you don't have to play above the rim if you can control the space beneath it.

the bottom line is that you have to score more points than the opponent to win a game, and it doesn't matter how you achieve that feat. whether it be with a slow-down, control game with a powerful big man, a slew of sharpshooters who can kill you from beyond the 3-point line, a bunch of athletic wings who run and jump their way to the rim, or a tenacious defensive unit that refuses to allow you to score, there are a lot of ways to get the job done.

it just so happens that blacks have a tendency to play one style better than whites, and the American population has allowed that to become the only "real" way to play when it's really not. and they don't want to acknowledge white kids who excel in that style, either. that might be racist or something.

JC</span>, despite the arrogance of these drunk white fans, there have always been long and athletic</span> white players. There are two</span> good reason for me to point out why many these group of white players hardly play at all: strength</span> and defense

Lee Cummard </span>to me is one of the best defensive hustlers in all of NCAA Basketball, but the so-called NCAA experts hardly pay notice to him.

Robbie Hummel </span>and Nick Calathes</span> are some of the better all-around players in all of NCAA basketball, they too hardly get much notice.

B.J. Mullens</span> and Ty Zeller</span> have to be the best white American 7-footers I have seen in years, again the same old story.

Based on careful observation (me), long and althletic white players have been long regarded by drunk white fans as weak in strength and defense, although David Lee</span>, Andris Bie</span></span>drins</span>, Ginobili</span>, and AK-47</span>
can easily disprove that. It all began with Michael Jordan</span> breaking
into the NBA, his exploits have made drunk white fans think that
oustanding players standing 6'6-6'8 have to be black. Even though Brent Barry </span>won the Slam Dunk in 1996, it still put these stupid people in a state of denial.

Another thing I have noticed why many white players have trouble breaking into basketball is the fade-away</span> (or fall-away) shot. Larry Bird and Kevin McHale were known for that shot, so was Rick Barry, Jerry West, Gail Goodrich, and Pistol Pete. The only white player I know who can do that shot consistently these days is Dirk Nowitzki, no I can think of comes close. White players these days are often considered slow and fundamental, even though Steve Nash was and is still the driving force of the Phoenix Suns up-tempo offense.

Blacks are athletic no question, but whites have shown time and time again they can play above the rim</span> with these "people</span>," but the game isn't all about athleticism, it's also about the fundamentals, hutsle, and teamwork. Whites play team basketball</span>, blacks like to play street-ball</span>. That's what basketball to drunk fans is now, street-ball.

there are a LOT of unheralded players on the tube today in BracketBuster Saturday.

gordonhayward.jpg

Butler freshman Gordon Hayward is a do-everything 6-8 guard/forward who is one of the elite freshmen in the nation. the big favorite for Horizon Freshman of the Year, Hayward is second on Butler in points, rebounds, and blocks (fellow white 6-8 player Matt Howard narrowly leads the team in all three categories), leads the team in steals, and is third in assists.

he's a hell of an all-around player in the mold of Robbie Hummel and Lee Cummard.

mattjanning.jpg

Northeastern junior Matt Janning is a long, smooth point guard at 6-4. much like Florida's Nick Calathes, Janning is Northeastern's best point guard, two guard, and small forward. if he doesn't get it done, then Northeastern doesn't get a win. he is the only Husky player who is a threat to create a shot, and he has to create them for himself and the rest of the team while also running the offense and playing three positions.

he is the real deal, and i can't believe i've never heard of him before today.

Mitchell Watt with the putback dunk.

Buffalo freshman Mitchell Watt is a high-flying 6-9 forward. he is the lone white starter in an otherwise black lineup but doesn't get many minutes, which i don't understand because he certainly looked good today when i watched him. he runs the floor well, plays above the rim on both ends, and plays very hard.

just a freshman, the future looks bright for this kid.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned him yet but olek czyz is a 6 foot 7 240 pound freshman from poland who plays way above the rim. He might be the best dunker in the acc. He isn't the typical long and lanky high flyer. This kid could probably play tight end if basketball didn't work out. Anyway for anyone interested here is a clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9Q4xrSLdMA.
He doesn't get much playing time for what ever reason maybe because he is very raw or very white i don't no but either way he is impressive.

Czyz is an exceptional athlete, without a doubt. we've talked about him in several of the Duke threads. there are quite a few videos of his dunk highlights in those threads, as well. unfortunately, he isn't getting much run for the Dukies yet, though i expect him to really improve in the offseason and develop his skill set, because when he does get on the floor he looks a little bit lost. if he gets a better handle and a consistent jumper, i am sure we will see a lot more of him as a sophomore.

Duke has recently become very white-friendly, and they are bringing in two more athletic white forwards in this coming signing class.

The very good to hear about Duke, but Coach K's favorite pet project though is still that overrated Gerald Henderson.

there are a lot of gifted white kids out there, and i'm sure i'm missing a lot of them. especially considering i am only posting the truly elite long and athletic guys that i've personally watched play.

bradyjardine.jpg

Brady Jardine with the two-handed stuff

Gary Wilkinson is clearly Utah State's best player, but 6-7 freshman small forward Brady Jardine is a highlight waiting to happen. he doesn't get a lot of playing time on an experienced club, but when he does get some burn he can take your breath away. he can really get up!

bradyjardine2.jpg

Brady Jardine with the great help defense

and while most folks don't think of short, Mormon point guards when they're talking about great leapers, 6-1 junior point guard Jared Quayle fits that description.

despite being only 6-1, Quayle is second on the team in rebounding at nearly 6-per-game.

he can really sky, is a very good shooter, and is a decent defender. he turns the ball over too much for my liking, but he is still a stereotype-shattering individual.

This is a little out of topic but whatever happened to Matt Santagelo? He had a 43 inch vertical leap and was very fast.Edited by: whiteathlete33

Santangelo got completely ignored by the NBA. he has had a successful career overseas, however.

in fact, he may still be playing in Italy... though i'm not sure.

He might be great, but he shouldn't be playing in the US. I am tired of all these European players getting scholarships. There are plenty of white Americans they can give scholarships to. If the European schools don't have sports programs that's their problem. Can't Poland develop their own country? How many Americans get scholarhips in Poland? There were Polish guys painting the hallways of my building today. There are plenty of Americans out of work. We don't need more immigrants.

Yeah i get what you are saying Europe but white players coming over seas and gettin scholarships is much better than the average undeserving black athlete getting that same scholarship.
