Sergei Liakhovich (23-1, 14 KOs) won the WBO world heavyweight championship in a very exciting twelve round slugfest over Lamon Brewster (33-3, 29 KOs) Saturday night in Cleveland, Ohio. Both fighters had their moments in a brutal encounter. Liakhovich took a knee to escape a Brewster barrage in the seventh, but he came back to rock Brewster in the ninth and outworked Brewster in the championship rounds to take a 115-113, 115-112, 117-110 victory.

This was a exciting fight.Liakhovich was schooling Brewster. His hand speed was great.Dont forget his last fight was Sept 2004.Brewster took some heavy punishment. His face was a bloody mess.both his eyes were almost closed.Blood streaming down his face and nose.If Lialhovich had more power he would have had brewster out.I will say on a final note that The ref is a bit of an idiot.I have no idea what he was thinking in the 5th round. He helped brewster escape.i had the fight scored 119-109 Liakhovich

NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION - SERGEI LYAKHOVICH!!!

I didn't get to watch the fight but followed the RbR on a couple of forums. Most of the posters said it was one of the best HW fights in years. Fight of the year candidate. Brewster knocked Lyakhovich down, but he came back to win the fight. Had Brewster rocked numerous times throughout the fight, almost out on his feet.

Well, well, well.....

In the 7th round Brewster had lyakhovich hurt but it was due to Him being tired.Lyakhovich took a knee to rest but he was fine though.it was a exciting fight though. Both threw bombs ,but Lyakhovich threw much more and he just looked more fluid.Brewster took some HEAVY punishment though.there was 5 seconds left in the 5th round and the ref called and end to the round while brewster was getting pummeled.Brewster would have gotten ko'd in the 5th.

Liakhovich did great but, man, he can't keep taking hits to the head like that! Not good for the brain. Still a great performance.

Next up, Wlad!!!
