Tre Smith as usual had a huge scrimmage today in spring practice. He had 94 yards rushing and 55 yards recieving! This kid has really got a raw deal the whole time he has been at Auburn. He's a senior so this will be his last chance to crack the starting lineup. He's healthy and as quick as ever. Here is a link about it.Good luck to him.

I thought he was a senior last year...did he get another year of eligibility? Glad to hear he put up some nice numbers though...one of the most talented RB;s in the country who gets no respect. Hopefully he can make some noise in the SEC to become a draftable commodity come next year.Edited by: pittbc7

Maybe if he would make some noise with his lips, he would get a chance to make some noise with his legs.

Barring injury to someone ahead of him, he will likely be a part timer again.

Well, Tre had 21 yards on 5 carries in today's A game at Auburn. He also had 2 catches. He was the starting RB for the Blue team, which won 7-0 over the white. The only score came on a 53 yard Brandon Cox to TE-Tommy Trott TD reception. Trott is a white RS Freshman who may end up as the starter next year at that spot. SR Cole Bennett is also a possible starter at TE. Those are 2 out of the 3 TE's Auburn has on their roster right now. It will be good to see a white TE at Auburn for a change!

Tre deserves more carries! He has good speed and good moves. In the first few games of the 2005 season he gained good yardage in spite of the poor job the offensive line did in making holes for him but lost his starting role. Tommy T should let him return kicks more often besides punts...it would give him a chance to shift into overdrive.

Another deserving white player who did quite well when given a chance was WR Lee Guess who was a key target of Brandon Cox when both were at Trussville, AL high school. Lee has gasoline to burn (more than other Auburn WRs, IMO).

From Tre's old website when asking him if he is going to play next year:

"Right now I am just focusing football and school. I will be graduating in the spring and I don't really have a plan past that yet. I am either going to go into grad school or try to get another major or minor, but I don't need to make any big decisions right now. Thanks for asking though."

I hope he comes back this year, moreover, I hope he plays more than last year. This could really be a good year for white RB's in the SEC if their coaches will use them correctly. Jacob Hester got me all pumped up in the bowl game last season. We all know what Peyton Hillis can do when he gets the ball. In a perfect world, there could be as many as 3 whites starting at TB in the SEC this year, but the reality is that we will be lucky if there is 1 who gets decent playing time.

Here are cuts from a couple of infuriating articles on Tre. He will be 3rd TB this year, barring major injuries to the 2 others.

Smith still a contributor -- With all this stuff about Auburn football, I don't see any mention of Tre Smith. Is he fading into the background? Has he lost his talent, or are they just not giving him a chance? Editor's note: Tre Smith is still expected to be a contributor in this, his senior season at Auburn.

Though they are not starters, Tre Smith (41), Leon Hart (24) and Lee Guess (19) will provide experienced depth on offense. Smith has already appeared in 41 games and when healthy, has established himself as a dangerous weapon. Guess and Robert Dunn are currently battling for the

I feel so bad fro T.Smith.Just think if he would have actually went to a school like Col.State where he could have been a star just like K.Bell.I hope alot of kids notice the trend that certain schools are just not and rarely have been white friendly.John Mosure who is a white running back is now a freshman at Col.State and at least we know he will see the field after Kyle is gone.I would like to see alot of other schools give these kids a chance.Hang in there Tre!

Tre should have transfered, when he realized he wasn't getting a fair shake. Maybe he made too many friends, or was too concerned with his academics to transfer.

I hope the guy doesn't give up on football, and tries to get a shot in the CFL, or Arena football league!

He has so much athletic ability (he was actually listed as the 13th best RB coming out of H.S in 2002 by Anti-whiteScout.com, lol). Even with limited opportunities to showcase in college, I could see him getting a chance in the CFL, albeit a small chance! Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

I'm sure scouts looked at his stats, saw that he's from Florida and his name is 'Tre' and got a great big boner right there. I'll bet if his name had been Brady Van Der Klopp he wouldn't have even been ranked in the top 100. Ditto if he had been from Utah, Colorado, or some other state where speed apparently isn't indigenous like in the beloved South.

Tre deserves a long look but probably won't get one.He has very good speed and can cut on a dime.He really could be a feature back for a team but has spent most of his college career riding the bench. What a incredible waste of talent.Let's hope that somehow,he can get invited to a All Star Game and make an impression. He will need to blow them away at the NFL Combine to even have a 1% Chance of being drafted.I hope he proves everyone wrong. He has the talent!

he won't get an invitation to the NFL Combine, that is reserved for a select few players... and to my knowledge, the all-star game rosters have already been mostly filled...

so that leaves his best shot, if he wants to continue his fight against the system, to performing well at Auburn's Pro Day and getting a shot as a rookie free-agent somewhere, or maybe even trying out for NFLEurope or heading up north to Canada... the Arena League doesn't have much use for true tailbacks, although Tre might be a good enough receiver/returner to change positions like Tom Pace did... *shrugs*Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

Yeah Tre should defintily thank his parents fopr giving him a black sounding first name. That right there was the reason he got a scholarship being a whiteHB.
