we all know that White athletes can only be compared to other White athletes ...and this latest incident shows just how far (and how far back) a so-called sports writer will go to follow the kosher-approved guidelines, while also getting in the required dig at White athletes ... preferably in the same soundbite.

Game thoughts: Packers at Bears 9/28
John Kuhn: This guy is like Rick Casares in Packer green.

White Football Players (jokingly, of course): When was the last time you watched a game where 4 of the 5 most memorable plays featured white people? Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler, Greg Olson's TD catch, Brian Urlacher leaping over a group of players to bat down a pass, John Kuhn dragging people for 15 yards. Last night was a victory for the white man! Haha! Joking, of course. (I'd say Robbie Gould's game-winner, but you know...kickers.)
for those, like me who don't know who Rick Casares is, he ran the ball (and ran it VERY well) for the Bears in the late 50s. he was apparently the best running back in Chicago Bears history until Walter Payton came along, holding the Bears record for rushing yards, attempts, and rushing touchdowns until Payton broke them in the 80s.

other than the fact that they are both White men, i don't see much of a resemblance ...

As someone who saw Rick Casares play on TV, there is no resemblance (unfortunately). Casares was taller, 6-2, 225, and an excellent all around athlete. He is said to have been a golden glove boxer. I once saw Mike Ditka say on an NFL films segment, "Nobody ever messed with Rick Casares."

Casares was swarthy Cuban-American who was from Florida. Aside from the hard pounding running they have nothing in common. Casares also would have been a sure fire hall of famer but he blew out his knee and lost significant speed. As it is when you compare his stats to hall of fame members such as the King, or Lenny Moore his rushing totals compare favorable. I have read that there has been lobbying for him to be seniors candidate.

from jsonline:

Running back rotationMcCarthy said that John Kuhn would not necessarily move into the No. 1 halfback position even though he had a strong performance late in the game and finished with nine carries for 39 yards. Brandon Jackson remains the starter because Kuhn has to play fullback at times, too.

"I don't view it as No. 1 and No. 2," McCarthy said.

It would be a miracle if two white running backs were full-time starters. I'm sure the last time that happened was years ago. Plus add Danny Woodhead whose been getting decent reps to the mix and the caste system is weakened a bit.

Then he should put a tight end at the fullback spot, teams do it all the time. Would he rather have the run game suffer by making Kuhn block for someone who is averaging 3 yards per carry? At least he is getting some carries. He is on pace for around 400+ rushing yards.

The DWFs at the Milwaukee Journal are in rare form bashing Kuhn in favor of Lynch never mind that Kuhn has a better avg rush stat.

Kuhn's got to break off a long run to silence these clowns. He actually had one called back on a somewhat iffy overturn of the original call with a Hatie challenge against the Bears that he was down by contact.

The notion that Kuhn has to play fullback as well as running back is total nonsense. The Packers were the only team to start the season with 3 fullbacks on the roster. They still have Korey Hall (white) and Quinn Johnson (black). If these guys aren't capable of playing then they should go get a fullback who can. Kuhn is a running back and he has proved that. Kuhn based on performance should get 2/3 of the carries and Jackson 1/3 as the 3rd down or change of pace guy.Edited by: Freethinker

Exactly Freethinker! Kuhn is averaging 4.7 YPC compared to Brandon Jackson's paltry 3 YPC- they both have a long run of 18 yards. Kuhn is performing much better no doubt. I agree with you on how the carries should be split. More smartly, the Packers should sign Jake Sharp to team with Kuhn!

This on Kuhn in today's Packers team report:

John Kuhn has won over Packers fans, many of whom are given to shouting his last name in drawn-out fashion after he touches the football.

"As long as they're chanting 'Kuhn' and not booing, it's good," center Scott Wells said. "So, that means he's doing a good job."

Yet, despite some contributions to the affirmative in recent weeks, Kuhn hasn't won the biggest nod of approval quite yet.

Coach Mike McCarthy indicated Monday that ineffective Brandon Jackson and Kuhn would continue to work in a halfback-by-committee rotation as the Packers press on without workhorse Ryan Grant, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 1.

"I don't view it that way," said McCarthy, when asked whether Kuhn has warranted being the No. 1 back. "I don't view it as number one and number two. When we put our run play together, we are trying to not be predictable on who runs what plays or who runs what concepts."

Kuhn, a converted fullback, has been the better of Grant's two replacements.

In the three games the Packers have been Grant-less, Kuhn has produced 106 yards on 24 carries for an average of 4.4 yards. Jackson is averaging only 2.7 yards per carry with 27 rushes for 74 yards.

The 6-0, 250-pound Kuhn was a load for the Lions to handle in a decisive final drive of the game. The march consumed more than 6 1/2 minutes and allowed the Packers to run out the clock to preserve a 28-26 home win Sunday. Kuhn, not Jackson, had his number called seven times in the 12-play series, and he plowed up the middle for 34 yards to finish with a career-high 39 yards on nine carries.

"You know what you're getting from John Kuhn," quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. "He's a tough guy. He might not outrun anybody, but he's tough to tackle, and he's going to fall forward and get extra yards."

McCarthy did suggest that Kuhn's ability to produce with multiple looks at halfback, as he did at crunch time Sunday, could prompt the coaches to cut back on his fullback reps.

"I think, if anything, maybe ask John to do less because John plays at 5 yards (deep at fullback) and is also playing at 7 (yards deep at halfback), and certain handoffs just give him more of a rhythm," McCarthy said.

Rodgers makes this statement as though Brandon Jackson is somehow much faster than Kuhn. Despite Kuhn outweighing Jackson by 35+ lbs, they are about the same speed. Jackson ran a 4.54 40-yard dash at the combine"¦.to my knowledge, Kuhn never ran the 40.

Yeah Jackson is no speedster that much is for sure, and this "falling forward" crap is putting Rogers on my shat list it being the second biting comment he has said about John. Kuhn don't fall forward he takes yards.

it's just an expression, as in Kuhn always wins the one on one and gets positive yardage. i dont see anything wrong with this particular comment, really.

My take on Kuhn is that he is a good powerback. Unfortunately as we know the NFL don't like that in a white guy (Hillis BTW is also fast with some moves.) Whenever I see the guy run it is in typical fullback fashion, hunched down two hands on the ball, driving straight ahead. I think there is some use for that kind of a back but it's not the typical "tailback" way of running in the NFL and I think it will limit Kuhn's opportunities. I wish him the best, of course, but I think he will be replaced with the first black scrub that puts up decent numbers, AND runs like a typical RB.

I didn't see Kuhn when he played for the Shippensburg Raiders as a college athlete, but I've seen that he set many PSACand school records running the ball. Has he always been a powerback, as described above by jaxvid?
Without knowing, I'm thinking that he's probably playing at 30 pounds or so above his college playing weight, and probably was a more shifty runner at the collegiate level. Thoughts?

When I was in high school, our entire football team attended a Shippensburg Red Raiders game against Kutztown (both are members of the always competitive "PSAC"Â). John Kuhn, #33 at the time, was a superman amongst mere mortals that day.

He has always been a husky, solid, power running back. He was likely playing at 225-230 lbs in college. Like all white men who played running back in college, Kuhn was instantly slotted as a blocking back. Thus, he was required to gain 20-25 lbs in order to handle the rigorousness of being a human-battering-ram so that "real"Â athletes, black athletes, may be properly glorified.

Given Kuhn's ill-fated skin condition, coupled with the fact that he played D2 football and the strict set of racial guidelines set forth by the Caste System, his success with the Packers has been truly remarkable.

The media wouldn't dare mention his arduous fight to reach the NFL (let alone the playing time he's received)"¦no emotional "human interest stories," no sympathetic commentators, no support, no admiration, no acknowledgment, no praise, nothing.

He doesn't need it, anyway.Edited by: Thrashen

Kuhn leading rusher for the Pack 13 for 50yds 3.8 avg.. 2 receptions 12 yds as well. Just a guess but his rushing avg is probably well within the norm for all the "athletes'" norm.

Checked the NFL stats page and JK has a better avg then some superduper all upside prospects, and JK runs in obvious short yardage situations at least half the time.

Kuhn should ask the team to keep him at tailback, then lose 20 pounds during the offseason. With the lost weight he would be a power back to reckon with. Right now he's too heavy to make the kind of moves he's capable of.
