Evander Holyfield was granted a one fight license in Nevada and will probably lure Francois Botha to Las Vegas for the Title fight and of course much more money than a fight with Ice would have brought. Minnesota ICE is now in talks for another opponent at the Nelson Mandela Memorial Stadium in Kampala, Uganda. An announcement is expected next week. Joey has been training very hard for this fight and hopefully it will pay off in his next fight.

In other action, Joey Abell (26-4) disposed of Josh Gutcher (18-12) in round two. A head punch sent Gutcher wobbling to the canvas as the fight was stopped.

The fight with Al Cole has been rescheduled for June 26 in Uganda. After that he has a fight lined up with Arron Lyons 11-8(8) back home in Minnesota.

I like that Joey is trying to avenge some of his defeats. Cole beat him on points in 2008 and Lyons knocked him out in the first round back in 2006.

I'm guessing the fight will be in Cali, where Goosen has a lot of pull, so Joey will almost have to knock him out.

The fight is now scheduled for Jan 28. I'm glad Joey is fighting someone ranked quite a bit higher. He's been boxing quite a few lesser known fighters, time to move on up in the world.

Joey better bring his A game. This fight is a do or die for Cristobal. He knows that a loss puts him into the trail horse tier of heavyweights. A good win means lucrative paydays and short road to a title fight.

If Joey wins in grand fashion, its the same for him. Should be a great fight.

As he should be. Best of luck to Joey but Arreola is not a great match-up for him.

Should Abell pull the upset it will be the biggest win for a white American heavyweight since the Joe Mesi heyday of 2003. Remember when Mesi starched Davrryl Williamson in 1 round? Great night that was.

Abell comes in at an all time low of 236.6. Not a good sign. His next lightest weight was 237 when he lost a decision to a faded Al Cole in 2008. He needs to be up around 240-245.

I hope I am wrong but I see Joey getting stopped early.

I think he'll be stopped in the first three rounds.

But who knows. Joey is a strong puncher.

I hope Abell realizes that this is kinda like his last chance on a major network I hope he conditioned himself properly and takes Cris into deep water and drowns him.

Cris came in at a blubbery 249 pounds. He should be at 240 lbs. I can't believe Joey lost to ancient faded cruiser Al Cole! For both of these guys their careers and future big pay days come to an end if they lose.

Well that was a disappointment. Joey was dumb. He was fighting well. He should have boxed more and avoided Cris for the first five rounds. It was kind of a premature stoppage, but depending on the time, mostly likely Joey would have been KO'd. Oh well, can't win them all.

Looked like Joey had Tommy Morrison disease, a very weak chin.

Yes, it was a quick stoppage and Abell was boxing very well. But the writing was on the wall. Arreola is a big puncher and Joey has a weak chin.

Yea and no. Two different levels of fighter. Tommy was a heavyweight champion in a very deep era. Joey is a tough journeyman (maybe even a tad better than journeyman) who does not belong in the same ring as the top 10-15 heavyweight fighters.

Technically the referee should have started a count as Abell grabbed the ropes to stop himself from falling down. I have no doubt that he was too badly concussed to get back into the fight. The follow up from the Freddy Kreuger might have been a "nightmare".
