He is a starting running back for Troy and is averaging 5.9 yards per carry. He doesn't have great size 6'0 207 but is very mobile and can move through the holes. Troy plays North Texas tonight and I think Whinghter will have a big game.

I also like North Texas WR Johnny Quinn He has a good mix of size and speed and has developed into a capable reciever. He was selected as a pre season all sun belt, and should put up good numbers in a passhungryoffense.

i actually tivoed this game to scout Quinn. i noticed Whinghter, but he didn't play very much in the game. after a fumble in the second quarter, he didn't see any more time. however, his back-up got into the groove quickly and ran very well, which might have been the reason he stayed on the sideline. or it might have been that that was his second fumble in two games. they almost beat South Carloina the week before, when he ran for 103 yards, but he fumbled late in that game as well.

as for Quinn, he is the only threat in North Texas' passing game. TREMENDOUS hands. catches everything that's thrown his way, and he has a knack for making the big play when the game is on the line. he muffed a punt (very unusual for him) in the first half, which set up troy's first touchdown, but he more than made up for it with a couple of very nice kick returns and a couple of dazzling catches. also an outstanding downfield blocker. it was his block downfield that allowed UNT's QB to score on a 20-yard td run. looks bigger and stronger than he's listed. a very physical receiver. fast enough, with good wiggle and YAC ability. he's not afraid to extend to make catches over the middle. definitely doesn't have alligator arms. rightly regarded as the best wideout in the Sun Belt conference.

his QB is a frosh, and the o-line is very inexperienced, so Quinn and UNT's 2 talented tailbacks have all seen their numbers drop this season.Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

Joel has dropped to second string behind sophomore kenny cattouse. he's gotten the fumbilitis, and it's cost him the starting spot:

Whinghter leads the team with 218 yards rushing, but has fumbled three times in the last two games. Cattouse has 158 yards rushing this season.

"Kenny Cattouse is our starter," Blakeney said, "but it's a short trip back to that bench. "All they have to do is cough it up one time and they'll be on it."

Troy fumbled 13 times in its first five games, nine more than its opponents. It suffered only one at North Texas, Whinghter's. Whinghter didn't run the ball again.

"Joel will still be in there," offensive coordinator Mark Fleetwood said. "The bottom line is we have to hold onto the ball and he knows that."

Joel is still leading the team in rushing, and is 5'th in receiving. Troy is down 14-7 against Florida Atlantic at halftime, but hopefully Joel will have a big game.

Joel had 6 carries for 13 yards in a defensive struggle against Arkansas State. He also had a 15 yard catch. He has 497 yards in the 8 games he has played in this year. He still leads Troy in rushing.
