This is what I call the token few carries for the white guy before he either gets cut or rots on the bench all season long.Jesse could not be on a worse team as they are set at running back for the next decade. His only hope to see the field is mainly special teams or to block and let the other running backs get all of the glory.

JB Cash explained the situation nicely in a column written last year. Should be required reading for new readers.

Hey Great Lake State, why do you like some black athletes but dislike whiggers? What's the difference?

Redskins-Bengals game just finished. Clinton Portis, who was only going to play a couple series anyway, hurt his shoulder. Midget sized Rock Cartwright played a bit, then Kerry Carter, who according to the announcers was going to play much of the rest of the game. Carter got hurt early on and left the game. . .

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for Jesse Lumsden to get some action. But this is the NFL. Several black scrubs played the rest of the game. Lumsden, like Nick Hartigan earlier this weekend in the Jets game, never saw the field. Not a single snap.

Joe Gibbs gave Brock Forsey exactly one carry in preseason last year before cutting him. Will he top his performance this year and cut Lumsden without giving him any carries at all?

I can't believe I wasted three hours of my life watching that Gawdawful game. No wonder they sell beer at every NFL Stadium, alcohol is an excellent painkiller. Didn't even see Lumsden on the sidelines, are we sure he even dressed?

How can anyone explain things like this outside of some type of caste system? These guys do not get any game time opportunities at all to prove themselves. None. How can they determine a players game-time performance from a few practices? Isn't the whole point of pre-season to get a look at the backups and other players attempting to make the team?

That's exactly how I felt after watching that pathetic preseason game.

I don't understand if there not going to give him a chance why even ever sign him. I guess if they never signed white athlets people would become suspicious, by signing them then cutting them without allowing them any chance to be seen by the public they can say they gave whitey a chance and he never made it. I never belived In an out and out conspericy to hold whites down but this makes me think.

All isnt lost here is an article mentioning him....Running back Jesse Lumsden and wide receiver Taylor Jacobs were among players who did not play in Sunday's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Both Lumsden and Jacobs have hip flexor injuries they sustained last week during practice. By missing the game, both players lost a first opportunity to impress coaches and earn a roster spot.

Lumsden has impressed coaches with his play during training camp and in the Aug. 5 scrimmage against the Baltimore Ravens. He rushed for 32 yards on six carries and scored on a 12-yard touchdown run in the scrimmage.

The Redskins have a deep running back corps, led by Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright. That depth was tested in Sunday's preseason opener when Portis was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Kerry Carter, another roster hopeful, was expected to get plenty of playing time against the Bengals, but he suffered a knee injury in the first half and did not return to the game.

For Jacobs, a fourth-year player who has struggled through injuries in his NFL career, missing the game was another setback. When the Redskins brought in wide receivers Antwaan Randle El and Brandon Lloyd last offseason, Jacobs' standing became uncertain.

"You hate it when [injuries] happen," head coach Joe Gibbs said last Friday. "Nobody works harder than Taylor. I think he's a talented guy and it seems he's had a lot of things go against him.

"Certainly, he would have an opportunity to play a lot [in the preseason] if he was healthy. What I'm hoping is that he is able to bounce back from it. I know he told the trainers he didn't think he could go, so he won't get an opportunity this week, but hopefully he'll be healthy next week."

As expected, offensive lineman Kili Lefotu (illness), cornerback Ade Jimoh (bruised sternum) and offensive lineman Jim Molinaro (knee) did not play against the Bengals.

Thanks, White is Right, let's hope Lumsden still gets an opportunity, though given Gibbs' track record (Forsey, John Standeford in consecutive years) it's difficult to expect anything other than Lumsden getting the shaft again this year.

It also explains why I didn't see him on the sideline. I'm pretty darn good at spotting "overachievers"after all these years.

Man oh man did J.Lumsden miss a golden opportunity. His little injuries are going to kill him in the long run. What a shame.I hope they give him a chance in the next game assuming he heals from his injury.I'm pulling for him and N.Haritgan as hard as anyone.

Good news for Lumsden Kerry Carter is out for the season with a bad knee. If the Skins staff thinks anything of him he should make this roster. Their(Skins) running backs are going down like soldiers in war.....

One of my biggest dreams would be to see Lumsden rip off a couple of 130 yard games with about a 5.5 to 6 yd average/touch. The problem with that is that Gibbs would probably relegate him to special teams for the year, then be cleansed via the caste system after the season.

They probably wouldn't even give him a second chance to tear it up twice. Too much controversy for the caste system.

Unless his injury is debilitating,Jesse needs to suck it up and play if the coaching staff tells him they want him to be part of the next game plan. This opportunity, if it materializes as there's no certainty it will, is one Lumsden must try to take advantage of or he most likely will never get another one. We know what Seattle did to him last year. If he's cut this year he'll be seen as someone who's too injury prone to be counted on even as a special teamer. The Caste System will leech onto whatever weakness they can find to keep a white talent from getting an opportunity.

i was always the one to play through injuries (not proud of it, aggravated some that could've been taken care of by rest plys treatment) and i would definitely try and suck it up, being in his situation...
he's not likely to get more than one or two shots so he'd better take them!

Portis is out for the rest of the preseason and maybe even the opener, and Carter is out for the year, so if he doesn't take this chance he probably won't make it in the NFL... here's a quote from an NFL.COM article:

"The injuries to Portis and Carter left the Redskins thin at running back. Second-stringer Ladell Betts missed the game with a hamstring injury, and first-year player Jesse Lumsden did not make the trip because of a hip flexor. Rock Cartwright is currently the team's best healthy back, although Betts and Lumsden could return this week."Edited by: backrow

Kerry Carter was released and got an injury settlement. They signed a new RB though so he will get reps before Lumsden sadly.

From what I have read, tommorows game against the Jets just might be Lumsdens last chance to impress.I hope he is ready.I think I will have to try to go to a sports bar and catch the game.It would have really been cool to see Nick Hartigan on the Jets getting touches while Lumsen ran for the Skins. Two white running backs on two different nfl teams is just not allowed these days.

Regardless, I think Jesse will do good tommorow.Let's hope for a monster game in his limited opportunities.

The Redskins gave Jesse almost no opportunity. He got one carry and one reception all in the last minute of the game.I'm suprised they even did that. They must already have their minds made up.The more talented the white running back, the more the league screws you over. This is so demoralizing for these kids!

Here's the link. It's just so pathetic that they won't give him a chance. Self-righteous "Christian" Joe Gibbs my ass. Since when did being a Christian mean refusing to give your own kind a fair opportunity?

Wow that is real bad news as the Alstott/Bus type role that they envisioned for Lumsden is out, unless they want him as an understudy for Duckett. I know in the CFL when he first signed with Hamilton he did kickoff returns, but I saw he wasn't listed on the depth charts of the Skins for that....

And the truly wonderful thing about this is that if Jesse heads back the to the CFL for the last half of the season he'll be nothing but trade bait with John Ranek (White) and Corey Holmes (Black) ahead of him in Hamilton.
Oh well, gambled and lost. Now do you believe the guy who told you the machine was rigged?Edited by: Ta Waki Mumba
