As I watching the Monday night game it occurred to me Jake looks like the ideal specimen to play QB. He's tall, strong, mobile and can fire the ball running to his left or right making it look easy. He handles the ball well and looks great on fakes and bootlegs. So why does he throw so many picks? I don't know, but he looks like he should be a super star. .

He throws so many picks becuase he is a dumbass. He's looked like a "potential superstar" for the last 9-10 years. Face it, its not going to happen. he will always be mediocre.
Funny how Jake Plummer is constantly "put-down" for throwing interceptions, but Duante Culpepper is always given a free pass for his turn-overs. Were is the media out-cry for Duante to be benched like there has been for Plummer?

because he makes bad plays for no apparent reason. he will play good and then make 1 or 2 bad wildly bad decisions that cost the team a game.
he's done this for several years now. he's never played a entire season without making a very bad mistake once every 2 or 3 games.

Let's not have a short memory when it comes to Plummer. He is the exception to the rule when it comes to white football players. He is in his ninth season despite being an underproducer andhas beenprone to making bad mistakes at critical times. I callhim the "White Kordell" because he has always had corporate endorsement deals and lots ofgood press in spite of his mediocre career. There were parallels between Plummer's career and Kordell Stewart's for a number of years. The only white player in the last decade to get similar treatment was Jason Sehorn, and at least Sehorn had a couple of outstanding seasons before injuries slowed him down.
Hopefully he'll do a great job for Denver all season and for years to come, but he is indeed the rare white player at any position to be given a lot of chances to fulfill his talent.

Just kidding, I agree with your assessment, but there wasn't much left at that point in the draft, although I think Delhomme is the best of the three I have, which is Delhomme, Plummer, and Aaron Brooks.

I've been playing fantasy football for 9 years and never had Plummer on a team, so I guess I'm consistent that way, though he is capable of huge games.
I've always wondered just why he has had the "magic touch" re the adoring media and corporate endorsementssince he's been an underachiever and there are so many white quarterbacks people just love to hate. Would be great if someone could find out what it is and then bottle it and sprinkle it on all white football players.

Didn't Plummer have a 500 yard game last season?I believe he did.Jake is a good qb and I like watching him play.However,I would love to see Bradlee Van Pelt get a chance eventually in Denver.He can run like a running back and has a good strong arm.

Plummer threw for 495 yards against the Falcons, but ultimately lost the game because the Denver defense couldn't stop the Falcons' running attack. Of course, the media leapt at the opportunity to credit the victory to Vick, when it was obvious to anyone who WATCHED the game that Plummer was clearly the best QB on the field that day.
Jake is playing very well this year. He threw 4 TD's today and had over 300 yds. If he continues to play -smart - and the Bronco's keep winning, he could be considered for MVP... maybe. Of course it's way too early for speculation, but I'd like to see him do well.

For the last few years they have been producing great Running Backs there (except for Clarett, but he is probably beyond help) and so now he gets help from the running game. Is Plummer a great QB? No, but that is no reason not to like him or the Broncos in general (especially the way Broncos Fans treat the Raiders, hailing down snow-balls upon them! I just don't like the Raiders. )

missed on his first 12 passes, and it appears he has reverted to his
old scatter-shot ways).
Right now, Plummer is playing as well as any QB in the league.

Maybe before the game he forgot to have some of that Campbells Soup! LOL!!!
I don't know what caused Jake to abandon his gunslinger ways but he has turned into a heckuva quarterback. He hasn't thrown an interception for his last eight games, only has three for the year. If he can get past the Thanksgiving game with Dallas without reverting to his old ways, he may start making believers out of his critics. I'll take a so-called game manager over the high reward high risk types any day.

That Jake Plummer line was just the beginning of what was a another great South Park episode. As for Jake Plummer I thought he'd be a great QB as soon as I saw him lead(along with Pat Tillman) Arizona St team to the Rose Bowl in 1997. Jake carried that overachieveing team on his back and almost won the Rose Bowl.

Yes, and Csonka was known for not fumbling. During the 1971 season, Csonka only fumbled once all season, I believe. In Super Bowl VI against Dallas, he fumbled in the first quarter. Dallas went on to win 24-3. The Dolphins went unbeaten in 1972, winning Super Bowls both that year and 1973.
