I really liked J.B.Cash's article on boxing.I do think that Eastern Europeans will rule the heavyweight class.I was in Russia a few years ago and the standard of living is below the US and Western Europe.Picture a high rise apartment in Moscow with a strong young man just out of the Russian Army living with his mother-his dad dead-not much in the ice box-little vodka some cabbage and you tell him all he has to do is put on boxing gloves and win, then tonight there will be heat in the apartment and some meat for dinner-he's going to be a tough man to beat.I don't care if the Champ is Russian,Irish,German,American just as long as he's white. Vitali is the best in the world right now-just how good he is we don't know but when he retires there are plenty of others from Eastern Europe to take his place. If we are waiting for white Americans named Billy,Jimmy or Bobby to rule in boxing we may be in for a long wait- but if you don't mind your white fighters being Ivan,Igor and Boris the future looks bright!

I agree Gary, we should pull for anyone who can win and possibly become the unified champ. I heard something about a guy from New York who's idol is Rocky Marciano. He was 20-0 a few months ago. I can't remember his name, but they were touting him very much. he has a web site. seems like his first name is John.

you are refering to Joe Mesi most likely. He was 28-0 21 kos from Buffalo, NY. then he suffered the head injury when he fought Vasilly Jirov.

Wow, I did not know he got hurt. Yeah that was the guy. Joe Mesi, I knew it started with a J. So is he not going to fight anymore? Or is he just out for a while?

Mesi may or may not fight again,it all depends on what the doctors say-I don't like it when two white guys fight-Jirov is at his best at 190lbs and Mesi was a good prospect. Also Corrie Sanders from South Afirca has hurt his back and may retire.I heard today that Max Schemling died today in Germany. He was 99.He was a very good fighter-I've seen films of his fights with Joe Louis,Max Baer,Jack Sharkey and Mickey Walker. He is a hero to both the Klitschko's.I wish we had a dozen like Schemling around today!!

Didn't know Schmelling died. He was a good fighter. I hope Mesi can fight again. How good do you think he really is, cause I don't know a lot about boxing.

I see. That's too bad. He mus have been overhyped, as i thought he'd be the next Rocky. At least that's what I read.

Mesi was a top ten prospect but not Championship material-Tye Fields is a big strong American guy from Iowa -he is 6'9 279. his record is 32-1 with 30Ko's-needs to fight more often.Has potenial-not a boxer but a big hitter.

How many white guys are legitimate contenders in the heavyweight division? That's 3 that have been mentioned so far.

i think mesi is a very good fighter his problem was he was taking tough fights on a short notice. he was doing good in the early rounds but struggles late. mike tyson even in his prime had the same kind of problem. what he needs to do is build up some more endurance. he also has to improve his defense. Nicolay Valeau is one of my favorites right now he has tremendous size at 7'1 330 and great power he has been unstopable. he currently is ranked number nine in the world but hasn't gottena title shot. i would like to see him fight chris byrd.

Man! 7-1, 330. That's huge. I didn't realize guys that big were in boxing.
