Jamie Gasparella, 6-1 180 Sr Brown

"Gasparella emerged as one of the top cover cornerbacks in the Ivy
League, making 58 total tackles, including 53 in Ivy League games. He
picked off two passes against Penn, returning one for 30 yards, and had
a season high eight tackles against Dartmouth."

"The Quakers ran into several problems in the
air as well. Brown safety Jamie Gasparella picked off two passes from
McDermott, one of which allowed the Bears to retake the lead."</span>

I saw most of his games in high school, when he was the starting
quarterback at a Class AA (largest division) footbal power in Michigan.
He was one of the best running quarterbacks I've seen in the state, but
couldn't throw consistently. I remember his first-ever start, against
an all-black team from a known "speed school" -- always did well in
sprints in state track -- and Jamie made that team look stupid for four
quarters, they couldn't touch him. He lettered in four sports as a
senior -- again, at a big school in Oakland County, where well-off kids
specialize and excel in one sport, quite often -- and qualified for the
state track finals depite just showing up for a few meets because of
baseball.

This is one of the reasons whyI like Ivy League football, that and because my brother played at Dartmouth. just wish we could see more of it on TV.

I'd like to see Jamie play a game before he's through, but will
have to do it in person.

There are two Michigan kids I know who play basketball at
Brown, they're going to play at MSU in Coaches vs. Cancer in a
couple years, so that'll cool.
