Is Harrison for Bell trade good for Hillis?

I'm actually not really sure on this one, which is why I thought I'd ask. On one hand, Harrison wasn't a threat to take Peyton's job after it became apparent to any rational human being that he sucks horribly. On the other hand DWFs can now start clamering to put in some "fresh blood". Bell is similar to Hillis, which may be a good thing. With another power back on the roster to compare Hillis to, it may become more and more apparent how special Hillis is. They both will have same style, same offensive line.

I'm gonna assume you're saying goodbye to Harrison. I agree, I'm glad to see him go. Guys like Hillis, Roth, Fujita, and Thomas have turned me into a Browns fan. It's hard being only a Red(black)skins fan, which is why I also cheer for the Pats, Colts and Packers.

I like it in that Bell is more of a power runner, like Hillis but smaller and not as good. So it indicates that Hillis will remain the featured back as long as he can stay healthy. The only possible threat toHillis right now is James Davis, who had a ballyhooed training camp as a rookie last year (based mainly on one long TD run during a preseason game), but ended up on IR.

I agree Don. I don't see Bell as a threat. Hillis does need someone to take around 5-8 carries a game so he get a little breather. I like the trade.

Mike Bell is a power runner, smaller, slower and less shifty than Hillis, more prone to injury, lazy at times, can't pass protect or catch. I think this is good for Hillis, the only thing Bell can do is give him a breather. The only time Mike Bell looked impressive was for a few games with the Saints when they had a great passing attack to keep defenses from stacking the box. He faded out quickly after they played teams like the Lions.

Good points, Don. I really don't think we have to worry about anyone "stealing" Hillis' job. He's proven himself and at this point only injuries can hold him back. BTW, I was just reading my old NFL preview magazine and they said about Hillis, I quote, "nothing proven". Did they have their heads up their asses while Hillis was tearing it up? And these same people probably predicted Pro Bowls and championships for guys like JaMarcus before they had taken a snap.
