Insatiable Appetite

I am 27, 5'9" and about 160 pounds. In good shape and I work out daily.

I typically eat a breakfast in the morning before going to work. (Usually a mix of fruit, cereal). By 10 or 11 am I am absolutely starving at work and need to stop for lunch. I usually buy a lunch and eat a good sized portion.

I get home at 4 pm and once again I am absolutely starving. I eat a big meal and then can sleep. I eat a lot of chicken, rice, potatoes, veggies. Sometimes I eat pork. Sometimes pasta.

I have a problem where it seems like I'm always hungry and can never get "full". Other people have told me my appetite is big and even guys I work with eat way less than me. Some dont even eat a lunch.

Sometimes I go out for "Wing" nights at my local pub and I literally eat 50 wings. That about fills me. Sometimes I get a good burger and I can eat like 6 or 7 and still not be full.

Does anyone else have this problem? My monthly food bill is through the roof because I eat so much. I also never seem to gain weight no matter how much I eat.

Are there foods I can eat which will fill me? Any tips? Did this happen to anyone else? Thanks.

Start smoking, that kills the appetite. Also drink lots of beer it fills you up. Drugs are good too, they don't help with the appetite but you won't care about being fat.

Aren't you a Muslim? You should fast, don't eat from sun up to sun down. Then chow down like hell.

Isn't there something in the Quran that allows Muslims to outright lie and even murder if it help's the cause of Allah??

I’m 6’ 4” and my weight ranges from 235 – 245 lbs. I, too, have had an insatiable appetite my entire life. In fact, I’ve used this hunger to dabble in “competitive eating” and have won several hundred dollars in cash/prizes over the years. I mostly do “extreme hot wing” challenges (ghost chili extract) or “finish this in 1 hour” types of challenges at restaurants for a “picture on the wall” or a “free t-shirt/bumper sticker” kind of prize. In 2013, I won a tater tot eating contest at a national restaurant chain and the prize was a lifetime of free tater tots (limit one order per visit) at all locations. Too bad the closest location is 50+ miles away, haha.

Anyway, to curb my hunger, save money on groceries, and avoid gaining weight (I have a 36” waist and like to think I have a muscular build), my secret is to eat about 10 bananas every day and drink lots of water. At a grocery store, bananas are certainly the cheapest, best tasting, most nutritional food one could possibly purchase. What other highly nutritional food can be purchased for under $0.50 per lb? My wife packs my lunch every day and it always includes around 6 bananas. I usually eat another 4-5 when I get home before eating dinner. After waking up on the weekends before working outside or in my garage, I’m usually eating 5-6 bananas in the morning. I save every single banana peel (I bring them home in a bag from work) for composting in my gardens. My wife uses them daily in smoothies. My kids love them. Also, if any of you guys are interested in doing a hot wing challenge, eating bananas is the standard way to “coat your stomach” and in my opinion they work better than dairy products.

FYI, the hottest sauce I’ve ever eaten is “The Source” (7,000,000 Scoville units) and that was so bad it was nearly impossible to eat the wings (though I did) and gave me major stomach pains. Apparently, “Blair’s” is twice as hot...

If any of you guys want relatively easy hot wing challenge at national chains, try the "Blazin Wing Challenge" at Buffalo Wild Wings or "Triple Atomic Wing Challenge" at Quaker Stake and Lube. I have both of these t-shirts hanging in my garage, haha...

Dadgum Thrashen, I used to think I could handle spicy food...not compared to you. I'll stick with the Louisiana hot sauce. ;-)

I (too) have a voracious appetite (& always have). The problem is that my metabolism is slower than molasses (compared to my 20s). I still hit the gym but need to ramp (back) up my consistency. Also, I needs keep my diet more steady "clean". My weight goes between 340 - 360 (at 6'8) & I still have solid strength, but my cardio/endurance is for cr@pola these days. <:-(

When I was about 200 pounds I used to be the only person that ordered a 1 pound burger that was custom made off the grill in a ghetto area restaurant in Buffalo(I could tell you stories about the beggars hanging around the area). The owner to drum up business offered for me to eat a 2 pound burger and he would call up the local paper if I tried to eat the super custom made burger. If I passed the challenge the meal was on the house and If I failed they would donate the cost to the local food bank. Anyway I never did this because I was trying to lose weight and wanted to shrink my stomach but if I weight lifted and went straight to the restaurant after I could have easily eaten the burger.

Ps, If I ate ten bananas a day I could be the national spokesman for Depends.....

I used to eat like this when I worked a manual labour job I got down to my high school track and field/football weight. If you are burning up calories you won't gain weight but if you stop this activity your eating habits can bite you in the ass. I literally gained 20 pounds in in 6 weeks after I quit the job.

I have always known that the human mind is rather weak and always wants to eat. I had a moment of clarity when I was about 200 pounds where I was in a McDonalds and ordered my usual 2 Quarter Pounders and my mind wanted a third one and I started wondering when this would end, would I end up being a true porker at 6' 240 or so. After this I vowed to never be 200 pounds again unless I could put time in the gym and looked like insert X 200 pound boxer.

I am 507 and try to keep my weight around 160 to 165 lbs. What keeps me there is a daily diet of a cup of oatmeal in the morning with a a 20 oz coffee. Then a full lunch at 130 pm. Once I get home at couple of handful of nuts. Weekends I splurge, but do not binge eat. I work out 5 times a week. This is what I have to do to maintain my weight and sexinesss for the wome LOL. Sometimes its hard, but coffee really calms the cravings and keeps you alert. Coffee is a wondrous drink.

I'm a picante lover too, and grow, collect hot chilies, and make my own hot sauce concoctions.
Thanks for that link.
You got me thinking about bananas and no disrespect but here's my contribution to the topic:

It can be an Art form.........

It can be cute and adorable.........

There's pitfalls and rules to avoid embarrassment..........

There's even stereotypes involving bananas...........

And then there's the joy of watching certain people enjoying themselves.........
