Hopefully Michael Vick will get some real jail time. Not a few months a few years but that is probably not very likely. He is an arrogant and violent piece of trash. He has millions of dollars and what does he do torture dogs. yet he still got that 10 year 130 million dollar contract a few years back. that was probably the biggest overpayment in history. He is horrible as a quarterback though I will admit he has great running skills. Is this the man children are supposed to idolize and look to as a role model. No, but they do. Why not Peyton Manning. He is a true role model.

Apparently some people still haven't given up on this guy. A bunch of us were sitting around talking about our upcoming fantasy football season earlier this afternoon and the topic of Michael Vick got brought up. Guy who is a Lion's fan goes "If Michael Vick gets convicted and released by the Falcon's, then some team is going to score the biggest coup in league history next year when he gets out of the joint by signing him. I hope it's us". I had to laugh in his face at that. He goes "No really, Detroit has alot of blacks, they will accept him and Vick will lead the Lions past your Bears, it's a perfect fit." On second thought maybe it is a perfect fit afterall!

Vick to Detroit! I like that. When was the last time Detroit won a championship in the NFL? Wasn't it in the 50's? The Detroit Lions are one of the worse managed teams in sports.

Suspended NFL star Michael Vick sentenced to 23 months in prison
By LARRY O'DELL, Associated Press Writer
December 10, 2007

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison Monday for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy that involved gambling and killing pit bulls.

The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback could have been sentenced up to five years by District Judge Henry E. Hudson. Vick was dressed in a black-and-white striped prison suit and apologized to the court and his family.

Hudson responded, "You need to apologize to the millions of young people who looked up to you."

"Yes, sir," Vick said.

Vick acknowledged he used "poor judgment" and added, "I'm willing to deal with the consequences and accept responsibility for my actions."

Before the hearing started, Michael Vick's brother, Marcus Vick, sat with his right arm around their mother, comforting her as she buried her head in her hands and wept.

Vick pleaded guilty in August, admitting he bankrolled the "Bad Newz Kennels" dogfighting operation and helped kill six to eight dogs.

In a plea agreement, he admitted bankrolling the dogfighting ring on his 15-acre property in rural southeastern Virginia and helping kill pit bulls that did not perform well in test fights. He also admitted providing money for bets on the fights but said he never shared in any winnings.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank called the sentencing "another step in his legal journey.

"This is a difficult day for Michael's family and for a lot of us, including many of our players and fans who have been emotionally invested in Michael over the years," Blank added.

"We sincerely hope that Michael will use this time to continue to focus his efforts on making positive changes in his life, and we wish him well in that regard."

Haha, couldnt have happened to a nicer guy! I cant believe the media actually turned on him the way they did. I guess it was because he was hurting animals, which are much higher creatures than, say, white males in this country. I hope he never plays again (because he was never good enough to in the first place). Bye bye Mike!

You know he is gonna try to get back in the league. Being that he is such a "superstar" he probably will. Hey maybe all that time in prison will help his great throwing accuracy even more. LOL

It will certainly help his receiving ability.

When Adam Sandler does his next prison football movie, "The Longest Yard 2", I am sure Vick, LT, Pac Man, Irvin and all the usual suspects will be in it.

Vick will probably be sent to a federal low security prison, since he isn't guilty of violent offenses. He won't be with rapists, killers and armed robbers. Those places mostly have people guilty of drug offenses and white collar crimes. It isn't club fed or anything, and for sure not any fun, but I doubt he will be in any danger while he's there.

Looks like Vick is out another season at the least. By the time he gets back to the NFL, he'll be really on the downside of his "career." That's all we can hope for.

As far as the black QB situation in the NFL overall goes. It seems their best days are behind them. Actually, I can't wait to see this guy on the raiders. He's going to be as funny as a barrel full of monkeys.
They're keepingt the wraps on him for a reason. I wonder what that reason could be???

Jamarcus looked like he found out that he could order KFC for life with his signing bonus. I heard that he is now into playing shape. What that means about his ability I don't know....

Why would Vick bankroll the dogfighting operation on his property, provide money for bets, and claim he didn't share in the winnings? Seems awfully odd. And once again, why isn't the press asking if any other NFL or perhaps NBA players were involved? You would think someone would bring up the possibility.

There's always the odd chance that they are conducting an investigation of which we aren't yet aware. Vick could have provided more information to get a downward departure on his sentence that they haven't had a chance to fully investigate yet. But I'm not holding my breath.

I should have taken bets a few months back. I was one of the few guys on these boards who said Vick would get sentenced to at least a year of prison.

Yep. I didn't think he would see any time behind bars. Sometimes it's good to be wrong.
