Highlights of College players in the 09 draft class.

TE/WR/RB James Casey, my most favorite prospect in this whole draft, aka THOR

RB Nate Kmic who holds the record for most rushing yards in NCAA History

WR Austin Collie Top 5 receiver in 2009 draft Finally made my video of Austin Collie, 10 minutes long gives an accurate view of what type of receiver that he is. Took a long time to make, tried to leave a decent amount out but most of his catches were around ten yards or more, or at least first downs in crucial situations. No offense to Samoans but watching their runningbacks while making this, i could think of fullbacks that ran better than that

WR Nate Swift edit: grainy version fixed, there is now a high quality version to switch to on that link. He really is a great athlete and a great wide receiver, seemed like he had lots of big play ability. Im glad he is invited to the combine. Hopefully he runs a good time. Sorry i couldnt keep it short, its also around 7 minutes
smiley9.gif
. He is becoming one of my favorite wide receivers in this draft besides Austin Collie, he just seems to have big play after big play.

WR Eric Peterman, an underrated wide receiver from Northwestern
(someone mentioned the fact that his qb had a weak arm and they had a weird version of the spread, boy they werent kidding, this guy rarely threw deep, most of the deep balls thrown in the video are by another qb named Kafka.)

WR Dicky Lyons Jr. A forgotten player due to injuries, im sure he still is capable of playing at a high level, cornelius ingram from florida didnt play this season and hes still projected to be a high draft pick (sorry the vid isnt as high quality as my others, it was hard to find footage of him, i had to dig because i only had an lsu game, im glad i found some more)

WR Eric Morris a good slot receiver from Texas Tech, i thought he had another year of college but apparently hes in this draft

WR Andy Brodell Iowa Truly underated player. Played in a very run oriented team so stats arent as good. 2006 was his best year i believe he got injured. I have this funny feeling they might try to convert him to tight end. He seems like a big guy, and was a good blocking at wide receiver downfield, a reason why Shonne Greene was able to get some good runs in as well as the Oline. (bastards at youtube disabled the first song i put on there, "wont back down" by Tom Petty, i thought older music was fair game)

TE Chase Coffman Highlights Missouri 2008 Not mine but i guess since I have alot to do I will leave this as the only one

LB James Laurinaitis (I didnt make this one but I will make my own version soon)

LB James Laurinaitis wo music not mine either but a nice highlight that points him out before plays

LB Zach Follet I didnt make this one either, but before going to the senior bowl i looked up the roster and checked out this site to see which ones were White. He impressed me during the senior bowl.

Zach Follet vs Miami I didnt make this one either but another good highlight of his

LB Brian Cushing Highlights USC 2008 some guy named draftparty

WR Austin Collie I was in the middle of making a Austin Collie hl video and found one that is probably better than the one i wouldve made, I still might make my own because i have a few things of footage not included in his, but this is a good highlight

RB Stan Zwinggi celticdb15 found this, impressive highlights

This isnt one highlight video but someone mentioned doing a highlight of Peter Ittersagen a cornerback out of Wheaton, and this youtube user has several different videos of him, highlights and workouts for scouts

Offensive Lineman highlights (is it just me or does this seem like its heading the way of being a caste position? especially LT, or at least they are trying to do that

C C Jonathan Luigs Highlights Arkansas vs Florida 2008 made by some guy named draftparty

C Alex Mack Highlights California 2008 also Draftparty

OT OT Alex Boone Highlights Ohio State 2008 also Draftparty

OT OG Kraig Urbick Highlights Wisconsin vs FSU 2008 also Draftparty

Quarterbacks

Stafford Highlights part 1

Stafford highlights part 2 both found by DixieDestroyer

Greg Micheli Mount Union QB

Anybody have any requests? I have a decent amount of Big 10 and Big 12 footage, my next video will probably be Andy Brodell, then Nate Swift, James Casey, Eric Kettani, Brian Cushing, Chase Coffman and from there im not sure. I hope i can get a decent amount of players in there between the now and the draft since I am overloaded with school.

Edit 2-20-09: well I have Nate Kmic, Nate Swift, Andy Brodell and Eric Peterman. Found Chase Coffman and Brian Cushing. Eric Kettani is not going so that would be pointless. I am currently working on James Casey and trying to find some of the players everyone mentioned.

Note: these videos get taken down quickly (especially the ones i i didnt make and cant control) so if youd like to have a permanant copy there is a website called www.savevid.com where you just put in the url of the youtube video and you can save it to your hard drive. Its what ive been doing. I dont want these highlights of White players to be gone and forgotten forever. I am sure some of you know other ways of saving youtube videos besides that, but thats the only way i know how.Edited by: dwid

wow, dwid! i'm impressed with the time and effort you're putting in. good job, man.

if i were going to request some videos, in addition to the guys that've been mentioned i would want to see some of the small school guys.

one in particular is cornerback/kick returner Peter Ittersagen, who is regarded by many as the best small-school corner in the nation. somehow this legitimate NFL prospect (who reportedly runs a sub-4.3 40) managed to fall through the cracks all the way down to Division III Wheaton College.

other defensive backs who should be NFL prospects are Klint Kubiak of Colorado State, the speedy Daniel Charbonnet (who is actually a corner being forced to play safety) from Texas Tech, cornerback Drake Otto from North Dakota, Notre Dame cornerback-turned-safety Kyle McCarthy, Oregon State strong safety Greg Laybourn, speedy Illinois State free safety Tommy Nelson, and Penn State safety Anthony Scirrotto.

is that list long enough?

as you can see, i like the defensive backs.

John Matthews is a guy I don't know a lot about other than from NFLdraftscout and Draftdaddy, but I hear he runs a 4.5 and had ridiculous production. Andrew Means and Tyler Grisham I have only seen in two games each and didn't really see enough of them to really grasp their talent. Grisham seems like a slot WR prospect from what I've seen and heard. I can't stand Clemson; they've always seemed pretty caste oriented to me, which is why I don't watch them much.

Stan Zwinggi was great in H.S, but didn't get many carries for Texas State, but his yards per carry was good from what he did get his JR. year. Karrington Bush (I think that's his name) seemed to steal the carries from him; I guess they had a caste coach. Zwinggi is a speed burner who supposedly runs a legit 4.36.

Another small schooler I'd like to see good footage of is Kole Heckendorf. I only saw him play once; the guy is another speed burner who Draftdaddy has said is a good day two prospect.

But Woodhead, Woodhead, Woodhead! I hope he gets a shot from the Jets this year! Thanks dwid!

Stan Zwinggi also got into some off-the-field issues, and was constantly in his coach's "doghouse" and was benched for a lot of games.

however, i have no idea what the issues were. they could be anything from him being a white guy who spoke up about all the crap, or showing up late for practice. whatever the issue(s), it couldn't have been serious, or it would've been plastered all over the news.

that sucker sure can run, though.

Yeah Kafka should have been starting all along for Northwestern IMO, he seems the better all-round QB with more athleticism. Didn't someone in this forum mention Kafka being a former RB a couple years back? Maybe the Big 10 just doesn't want a white running QB.

He played this year some when the other guy, Bacher, got hurt. I got to see Northwestern this year in the Michigan game and Bacher had just come back from injury and split time with Kafka. Bacher threw way too many interceptions in '07 and the announcers brought that up. I don't really know enough about the team, so maybe JC could clarify this for me about Kafka.

dwid great work on making the putting the clips together.

My only recommendations are in the music. The music you picked is interesting. I think something a little more mainstream would hold people's interest a little more. They might watch the video a little longer because they recognize the song.

Also, especially on long TDs, including the game audio of the announcer a few times would be nice.

Anway thanks for making the vids and keep up the good work!

dwid, I can't wait to take a look at your new clips! Keep up the good work man.

I would suggest RB Toby Gerhart and running QB Pat Grace of Northern Iowa. I like the small school players too, so any of them would be cool to see.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, i appreciate the feedback. That sure is a decent amount of players to get footage of, espescially the defensive backs :). Texas Tech, Notre Dame, and Penn St should be easy, and i do have one game of Wheaton College on my computer, dont know how many plays Peter Ittersagen has in it though. I did have a quite a few of Colorado St games recorded on tivo at my dads house since he has sattelite but he deleted them all, man i was upset, but after that i dont think he will ever delete something i go over their and set up to record. I will try my best to get all of the small schoolers that everyone listed, looks like i have my work cut out for me
smiley1.gif
.

As for Kafka, yes he should have been starting from what i have seen from him. I dont know if he was a former RB, but he definetly looked like a Running QB, he was breaking off quite a few big runs in some of the games i had footage of him in.

As for the music, that is one of the hardest parts. I am trying really hard to find non-mainstream music that is catchy to put on to the highlight videos. Youtube is doing this thing now with mainstream music and disabling the audio tracks, like ive went back to several videos such as sam mcguffie's hs footage and the audio is disabled. So if anyone has any suggestions for music that is catchy, but the artist isnt on a huge mainstream label that only cares about money then I would greatly appreciate it. Also i have been toying around with the comentators voice along with the highlights, i did it somewhat with the Matt Jones video but i am having trouble learning how to sync it up properly. For some reason the program i use will only let you mute all of the game noise or have it all playing. So the problem is getting another program and extracting a small audio file of something the announcer says, and then syncing it up to the video, but its definetly something i am trying to work on.

Toby Gerhart is someone who ive been really wanting to make a video of because he is one of my favorite college RBs, and i have some footage of him. I just figured id put it on hold for a while since he is not going pro yet.

Another Running QB i have been dying to get footage of is Michael Desormeaux from ULL. Both he and the RB Fenroy have both rushed for over 1,000 yards the past two seasons, which i think the only other time that has been accomplished is by Pat White/ and whoever his RB was i forget. the few times ive seen him he looked incredible but there is not much footage of him.

oh yeah, and does anyone know anything about Ross Lane? is he is White right? and a Senior? because i kept having to skip through parts of him making plays and catching touchdowns, he actually looked impressing too.Edited by: dwid

dwid, that Austin Collie video shows some good clips but the images are very pixelated. It seems like they just ripped videos that were already on the web, instead of downloading them or getting them from the DVR like you do. Either way keep up the good work!

yes, Ross Lane is a white athlete. i've mentioned him a time or two and, much like his teammate Eric Peterman, he doesn't get the credit he deserves for his talent.

he is faster and better than many of the black wideouts who will get drafted. don't be surprised if he runs in the high 4.4s or low 4.5s at his Pro Day.

also, i was the one who pointed out how Peterman (and Lane) suffered from their weird offense and poor quarterback's play. it's always nice to have someone validate my insight.

those guys are pretty good, for sure. i'm more partial to Flogging Molly. they also are an irish-influenced group, but they aren't as punk oriented. you guys should check them out, if you've not had the chance.

Dropkick Murphys, now theres a name i havent heard of in about a decade. I remember it being cool to say "yeah i only like their first album before Al Barr joined". I forgot about the Dropkicks but there was a Bruiser's (Al Barr's first band) song i was thinking of using. Flogging Molly might be good but i never gave them a chance. This PC chick i knew was really into them and thought it was all cool to be Irish for the moment and then back to being ashamed of your heritage. (i dont think she was even part Irish) but i guess i need to go back and give them a listen since i never game them a chance because of one girl. Well actually it was a whole crowd, for a moment in the punk scene it was cool to be White as long as it was Irish. So all of a sudden there were tons of Irish kids. Then it died out and it wasnt cool anymore. Im only part Irish, but it would be great if kids were wanting to be Irish rather than wanting to be black. Too bad it mostly died out.

I was starting to think Ross Lane was just as good of a player after the middle of doing the Eric Peterman video. I kept going through the videos and seeing catches of his being for crucial first downs and 2 videos from 07 where he caught 2 touchdowns in both. Of course the announcers mentioned how great of a "possession receiver" he was. (i cant stand that announcer on the northwestern videos, she sounds kind of like a dude, her voice is horrid) He also looked great at blocking. If he makes it watch them try to bulk him up to TE. Hes got the height but not the weight. I hope not though. Hopefully he runs around a 4.4 at pro day because i dont think 4.5 is going to be good enough for the "experts". They both definetly deserve to be in the NFL. Do you have any clue why they just didnt use Kafka at qb?Edited by: dwid

I saw Flogging Molly live in Atlantic City, and it was seriously one of the greatest moments of my entire life. I've been a huge fan of theirs for years.

Lot of Irish-looking people there. I stuck out like a sore thumb.

Phily Birds that sounds like a pretty cool concert to attend. Do you remember who performed before them, im guessing they were the main event?

Dwid i appreciate you making these videos and when i heard that song i instantly thought of your requests for some cool non mainstream music.

Yeah, they were the main event. A really good band called Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band opened for them. They were a bluegrass-hard rock band, with just a drummer guitarist/singer and washboard player. Look them up, they were awesome.

updated to add Nate Swift, doesnt seem hq like the others, will try to fix that.
edit: high quality thing fixed, has high quality link added on there now, i guess it just takes a while.

Does anybody know anything about Cody Grimm from Virginia Tech? He caught my eye while making this, and you can also see how speedy he is around the :45 second mark in the video hes #26 he looked very fast and athletic, i checked it out, hes a White guy at 5'11 207 listed as a LINEBACKER, also a walk on.

His profile

an article on him

"Grimm is more athletic than he appears in street clothes. Besides All-ACC cornerback Macho Harris, Grimm was the quickest player timed in Tech's last pro agility skills tests. "

Why the hell isnt he playing cornerback? or at least free safety

Oh yeah and the Nate Swift video also has a nice big play saving tackle in it by Daniel Charbonnet

..and is it just me or is Ganz an underrated quarterback? not all of his passes were out of shotgun and he hung in there willing to take a hit in order to complete a big play. Wasn't afraid to take a risk. I know he is at least better than Josh Freeman who is going to the combine.Edited by: dwid

He's gone well below that number multiple times and ran a 4.26 at a 2003 (Texas?) A&M camp according to this site.
