I wanted to get this topic out in the open for discussion.


I am from W. PA and just watched a local game that includeda minority player who verbally committed to PITT. What I saw wasan over-rated running backthat should not have ANY scholarship offers. The running back is unproven and been "hurt" for most of the past two seasons. He is a soft runner that goes down with arm tackles and lacks heart. This running back plays for Baldwin HS in Pittsburgh. This is the same high school white running back Fred Bacco attended while leading the WPIALs in rushing his junior and senior year all without even one scholarship offer from a Division I school. It angers me that this type of discrimination goes on.

Welcome to Caste Football, hsfootball. I don't know if you caught this article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette from 1/27/04 about Bacco, but it's one of the few times the corporate media has let the realities of the Caste System slipthrough the censors:

Baldwin's Fred Bacco (5-10, 205), the WPIAL's leading rusher during the regular season, committed to Mercyhurst. Slippery Rock was his other top choice.


"I think I fit in better at a private school," Bacco said. "Plus, I'd rather be a big fish in a small pond."


Bacco was disappointed no Division I colleges recruited him, despite rushing for 3,219 yards the past two seasons in WPIAL Class AAAA.


"I thought I was the top running back in Western Pennsylvania," Bacco said.


"I actually had a few college coaches tell me I was the wrong color to be a running back. I was surprised some coaches actually came out and said that."

Wow, I'm glad the kid admitted what they told him and I'm glad the paper printed it. It's a shame, especially when there are so many instances where the white back is superior to the blacks. It shows how these coaches are cowards, doesn't it.

These guys would have to bereally desperate to do this but a CIS school would KILL to get their hands a top recruit from a US AAAA or AAAAA HS conference.


Sigh... Well I can dream can't I...
